Morning all. What's 'appenin'?

I'm going to to getmy passport piccies done today. Bit foggy and icy though, so I may have to wear a hat to school to stop to prevent me looking like someone off the Hair Bear Bunch!

Ya loons !

It's a lovely day here, sun is warm, gentle breeze, can almost imagine next week -screech of nails down a board - rain, snow, fog. Must be half term coming up

MaureenMLove · 13/02/2008 14:05

What you all got planned for half term then? I'm working Monday and Tuesday. Baby only, so usual sort of stuff, although no organised playgroups open. DD will be out no doubt.

We are taking my dear Mum away for the weekend, 10 of us in a huge cottage in Carmarthenshire.

She will be 65 on Tuesday so I have hired a pink limo for a tour, pick up her sister, my cousins, then meet loadsa people for lunch then limo home. Boys are not v keen on pink limo but I say tough chaps.

Weds/Thurs/Fri - don't know, head fed up with planning !!!

MaureenMLove · 13/02/2008 14:14

Cool! What a lovely idea! Does she know about the limo?

OP posts:
BoysAreLikeDogs · 13/02/2008 14:17

Nope.

Boys (8 and 5) have grasped that it is a surprise (not a secret) and have zipped up their lips.

If they blurt it out, well heigh ho never mind.

£120 quid for limo !!!!

Afternoon all!

Mindees are sleeping and it's bliss!! DD at preschool so I'm enjoying some peace, and eating with chocolate! I'm currently melting chocolate to make rice crispy heart cakes when mindees wake up!

Mindee's mum who has a job and was going to be 3 days a week is now only 2, but still 2 is better than 1 so not complaining, lol!

Right, it's taken me 20 minutes to write this with one thing and another so going now!!

crace · 13/02/2008 15:18

Hi we are back from pm toddlers, daughter not napping But mindee is so a half break.

LT - your BF thread has gone a bit strange.

Boys, sounds lovely enjoy it!

Kay, do bring some back in won't you.

Hi to Mo and SB and anyone I missed!

southernbelle77 · 13/02/2008 17:32

Heart shaped rice crispy cakes are fab!

Just had another query about some after school care for September so really need to start thinking about what I can and can't do with regard to numbers and days etc etc!! It's all getting very confusing, but I do love the fact that I'm starting to get well known

DH out tonight so think I might try and do my accounts! A cm friend of mine has a partner on nights so we are going to do them together while chatting on the phone!! Ummm, not sure if they means we will get any done or not!

LT will look at your thread now although not sure I will know anything about it

mumlove · 13/02/2008 17:44

Just made it in to say hello.
I couldn't do it earlier as had no internet connection, had to wait for dh to come home and phone them. He wanted me to do it this morning but I knew it wasn't going to be a quick call!! he was on the phone for over 30mins to sort it out and then they are comming on friday to sort out more things .

Hope you all had a great day, it was lovely here once the sun came out.

MaureenMLove · 13/02/2008 17:44

SB. Draw up a chart on a piece of paper, with Monday to Friday, AM and PM shown on it, then give each child a different colour. Now draw a square of each childs colour on the days you have them and you should be able to easily see, when you've got any space left! Leave it by the telephone, then you've got it to hand when anyone phones!

Think I will do that tonight instead of my accounts

hennipenni · 13/02/2008 19:03

Hello all, have been very busy with mindees this week so haven't made it into staffroom. Am I the only minder on here who has half term this week?

So far this week we have been to childminders group today and monday gone, both sessions very busy as lots of school age children present, we walk back past the school holiday club on the way home, it was good to see that between us four minders we had more children than they did.

Yesterday we went to a c/m friends for the morning- great success with one of my mindees who has special needs.

Tomorrow we're going to the country park with two other minders- hopefully the weather won't be too miserable, and Friday we're probably going to the local castle.

Must say I've enjoyed being more relaxed and not having to think about the numerous nursery trips I have to do most days!

southernbelle77 · 13/02/2008 19:20

Half term is here next week! Not that it affects me with no schoolies at the moment, although it does mean I am more careful about where we go with lots of older kids about!!

looneytune · 13/02/2008 21:22

crace - yeah, kinda missed the point me thinks I'm not going to start bombarding this poor new mum with ways in which she must do this, just wanted some tips but hey, it's been interesting as I will be doing it all over again come June time!

henni - half term next week here too

Hi to everyone else and thanks if you posted on my mad thread

Mum2Luke · 13/02/2008 23:37

Hiya Hennipenni, I'm on half term this week too and what lovely weather we're having up here.

Eldest ds flew back from Heathrow (minus luggage due to BA incompetance) and he said it was foggy. Flight was supposed to get into manchester at 20.20 but eventually landed at 21.45 due 2 delays so poor dh was waiting for him 2 miles away.

Woken up my 5 yo ds saying 'Mummy mummy theres someone at the door!' It was a Royal Mail van with a HUGE box with a bouquet of flowers meant for 2moz of course, ahh bless him he didn't forget this year!!! Normally its a petrol station after-thought but he's learning....Took ds to fair and got ripped off, he is just a mm under the height thingie and they wouldn't let him on, he ended up on the children's rides and was totally bored.. and then I sneaked him on to Mad Mouse!!!Well he giggled his way around that and wanted to stand in the queue we'd stood in for 1/2 hour again, I persuaded him that he could have some candy floss and settled for that. Looked in horror at my watch, we were late for swimming so we decided to give it a miss instead of killing ourselves getting through Manchester traffic.

Have got mindee on Friday, taking him and my ds to see my sister who has 2 boys of similar ages, we might go to Liverpool or New Brighton depending on the weather.

Oh well, going to bed, have had a phone call to mind an 11 mth old, Mum is coming Monday (I hope) so I'll be putting my planning and portfolio together this weekend.
