I'm trying to work out what to expect when DS goes to school. He'll be in after school club 3 days a week, was wondering what to expect with the monthly fee?

TIA mumsnetters x

I’m in the north east

private nursery charged me £26 per day (15:15 until 18:00) for which i could offset with TFC

school just started offering an after school club and it is £10.50 from 15:15 until 17:50. They aren’t set up for TFC so i pay the full amount

CrumpetsandJammmm · 20/03/2023 13:12

£20.50 per day here for breakfast and after school club, including meals and petrol/transport costs for the DC that gets driven to another school.

SBAM · 20/03/2023 13:13

I’m south east.
After school club is 3:00-6:00, includes a snack (something like toast/bagels with fruit, cheese, ham etc.) and is £15 per day.

Some nights there’s school clubs running 3-4pm (art, dance, gymnastics etc) and they’re £5 a session but only run 10 weeks of the term.

Coffeeandcrocs · 20/03/2023 13:18

7.25 til 16.30
10.25 til 5.45

specialkallday · 20/03/2023 13:29

Thanks everyone. So I'm guessing it's kind of likely to be around £10 for 2.5/3 hours after school?

Do you know if we can still get tax free childcare on that?

And also how do you tend to pay is it monthly/4weekly/termly?

After school club is £19, 3:05-6:15pm. Same price whether the child goes for an hour or for three. Snack included (jam on toast, etc, not a proper meal). State school.

Greenmoonset · 20/03/2023 13:38

Here it is £15 from 3pm - 630pm. You pay the same, whether they’re there for 30 mins or the whole session. They get a snack fruit, sandwiches etc. We do tax free childcare so it actually works out as £12 a session.

Greenmoonset · 20/03/2023 13:39

Forgot to add, I am also in the south east!

NerdyBird · 20/03/2023 13:44

Just under £12 for up to 3 hours (3-6) and they get a snack like yoghurt, cucumber, fruit etc.
DD goes 3 days a week, and she can go there after any activity clubs, which tend to run 3-4.
I think it's really reasonable.

Oblomov23 · 20/03/2023 13:44

Blimey. I had no idea prices had increased so much recently. It's been years since my ds's needed breakfast club but it was well cheap £5.

Northerndreamer · 20/03/2023 13:46

London - Zone 3: Breakfast club £5 per day from 7.30am until school starts. It's run by the school and they don't accept Tax Free Childcare or Childcare Vouchers. After-school club is £15 from school finish until 6pm. Run by an external company and they do accept Tax Free Childcare etc. There's a 10% sibling discount too. You can't do part hours at our school, even if you pick up at 4pm you're paying until 6pm. I just book the day before I need it (can do it online up to 1hour before). It varies between schools though, some schools local to me did not allow reception children in wrap around so I used a childminder when I had younger kids which was slightly more expensive but worth it. The big money on childcare is spent in the many many school holidays though!

Avariceagain · 20/03/2023 13:54

£16 after school club, they get fed. 3.15-6 , can use tax free childcare. Charged per session so it doesn't matter how long they are there. Breakfast club is £10, from 7.30. Obviously includes breakfast (cereal and toast) We have to pay in advance each half term but if there is a space you can book an extra session!

specialkallday · 20/03/2023 14:02

Thanks everyone. And how often do you pay?

Ours is £11 for 2.5 hours.
You can use tax-free childcare to reduce the cost slightly.
We book it as and when we need it and have to pay upfront at the time of booking.

Starwarslover · 20/03/2023 15:19

We pay £18 for 3.30-6. Includes a full cooked dinner. We can use tax free chlldcare still on this so it is cheaper

jannier · 24/03/2023 18:02

Childminder costs in my area of london are around £8 to £12 an evening and you can use tax free or uc

LBOCS2 · 24/03/2023 18:07

We're south east - London z6, Surrey borders.

We pay £11 per child for 3.15-6pm, which includes a light tea (toast/crumpets etc). I think they do a shorter session until 4.30 which is about £5 too but I haven't used it.

Breakfast club is 7.30-8.50, if they're there before 8 they get given breakfast and that's £6 a day.

You can use tax free childcare for both of ours, but it involves a bit of coordination with the school! They don't accept vouchers.

We load up the account with money and book on an ad hoc basis. There has to be space available (I've not known there not to be) and funds available but it's not billed monthly like a childminder would.

wtftodo · 24/03/2023 18:23

SE London zone 2. £13 for after school club, 315-630, including a snack (stuff like jam sandwiches, fruit, etc). Or £6 if you pick up by 430pm.

Our school signed up when parents suggested it, so we can pay by tax free childcare or vouchers.

bluechameleon · 24/03/2023 18:32

£4.75 per hour, you can do 1 or 2 hours. Breakfast club is £4.50 from 8am, and an extra £3 if you need 7.30am.

Yelo · 25/03/2023 09:03

£10 for the full session from 330 until 6pm. Includes a small snack.

Yelo · 25/03/2023 09:05

Oh and you pay as you book. We're lucky in that you can just book on the day, there's always space. Mine accepts child care vouchers.
