30 free hours childcare eligibility

We have not been eligible for 30 free hours in the past as my DH has earnt over the £100k cap. He will however soon be setting up his own company and earning significantly less than this.

I was wondering how soon we can become eligible? Do we need to provide x number of months pay slips at his new salary or does it depend on his salary in the last tax year? Any advice, I can't see any guidance on this anywhere.

I think you declare every three months whether you are eligible or not, so I would do that on the next available window as soon as you know he won't earn 100k in that tax year

I thought anyone was eligible, regardless of their earnings?

Well, no they aren't.

Is that just 15 hours where anyone can get it? Sorry for muddying the waters...

BernadetteIsMySister · 14/03/2023 18:33

15 hours is universal yes. Maybe start another thread if you need help. OPs question is getting derailed.

I think it's done by self declaration of earnings for next 3 months so I suppose you're eligible as soon as he leaves his current job.

Also the helpline are actually really helpful IME so maybe give them a ring to make sure

Ok that sounds great, we will need all the help we can get coping with the income cut. Will double check with the helpline. Thanks all.
