crace · 01/02/2008 07:11

Morning, am up getting ready for mindee to arrive and then it's off to do my usual slog of sandwich/lunch making for the children and husband.

Today is a playdate at mine in the afternoon that I am looking forward to!

eleanorsmum · 01/02/2008 07:35

morning! still full of cold over here so steer clear of my comfy chair and bring tissues!

no mindees today, thankfully. DD is alot better - still cold but doesn't do rest! i'd love to spend the day in bed but she wants to play!

Have a good day all!

crace · 01/02/2008 07:40

I was assertive this morning, and now I feel bad day. I have had my early morning mindee changed a half an hour late due to parents request. When they showed up early and I wasn't expecting them quite yet, not even dressed! I opened with a "well wasn't expecting you, though it was blah blah today?". Now I feel bad for "telling them off" but jeez, I slept in extra today (it does make a difference!) and was enjoying getting ready slowly. ERGH

Glad you get the day to rest EM, and that you are feeling better!

crace · 01/02/2008 07:40

I feel bad TOday I meant

MaureenMLove · 01/02/2008 07:52

Morning ladies! Its the weekend. I wish I could look forward to it wholeheartedly but I've got a First Aid update course tomorrow for Rainbows. Still, can't wait to get the post and info about my holiday, hopefully. I woke up with a start in the middle of the night, worrying that we wouldn't be able to take the holiday, because dd is 12 and therefore an adult and its for 2 adults and 1 child. Oh well, we'll see.

shoshe · 01/02/2008 08:43

Crawls in and steals EM's chair,

Hello everyone, still feeling grotty, been in bed by 8 last night, 6 the night before.

Still only me here in the evening DH not back till Sunday, so have curled up with the portable DVD player and movies, tissues and Hot Choc.

KatyMac · 01/02/2008 08:52

Morning - no children until 10 this am - so I thought I'd do the wages

Sorry everyone is poorly

Fingers crossed for you Maureen

KaySamuels · 01/02/2008 08:56

Hi everyone, I am only working 12-4 today, so had a bit of a lie in.

My oldest mindee was wearing me out last night, he constantly wants your eye contact and full on attention, yesterday he demanded I watch him tip over a sweeping brush five times. His mum just tells him to bog off but I can't do that! Kay watch me kay, watch me do this, look Kay aargh! I am very fond of him but he is more tiring than my littlies! Any tips?

I am gonna try and get some NVQ work done this weekend - no really I am honestly am!

crace - I know what you mean aboout feeling guilty, I put my foot down the other day with a parent and felt terrible afterwards, I am such a pushover most of the time, think I need an assertiveness course.

MaureenMLove · 01/02/2008 09:03

How old is he Kay? Do you think he's a bit jealous of the smaller mindees? It might be that he feels he needs to constantly talk to you, to hold the attention on him.

KaySamuels · 01/02/2008 09:18

He is 10 mml, he has almost every symptom of aspergers but has not as yet been diagnosed/statemented he talks constantly and demands eye contact, has obsessions he tells you all about (facts and figures etc), has little scoial awareness, can't handle his emotions well. He is a lovely lad, have been minding him 3 years in March, just tires me out! He is actually very sweet with the littlies, and is my unofficial helper to keep him included. I think I have become his sounding board, he often talks through issues with me, I am glad he feels he can just hard to stretch myself sometimes.

mumlove · 01/02/2008 09:37

Morning everyone.
I feel so much better today, hopefully my cold is going away and also the sun is shinning with blue sky but they still give snow for later!! (don't think so).

1 of my mindees is leaving today his mum is going on maternity leave and when she goes back to work he will be at nursery .

Let us know who gets the snow and we will want to see photos.

MaureenMLove · 01/02/2008 09:42

Ah, I see. He sounds like a lovely little boy. Not sure there is an answer tbh. Other than, look on the bright side, at least he's at school most of the time!

to hear that he hasn't been statemented yet for aspergers. I've got a friend, who I fear has a dd with the same symptoms. She's in complete denial, but she's just started full time school and I was hoping the right people would make the right moves, NOW! I really hope it doesn't take years to at least acknowledge there's something afoot. It won't help her learning, if it takes years.

KaySamuels · 01/02/2008 09:59

Yes thank goodness for school! It is in the pipeline but is taking a ridiculous amout of time, he is getting support though so that's good.

Mumlove - sorry you have a mindee leaving, bet you will miss him! I am hoping we don't get snow, I hate the cold. [wimp emotion]

mumlove · 01/02/2008 12:27

Been to toddler group and all the children said goodbye to mindee, I will miss him but at least I will only have 1 mindee on a friday between 9 -2.30pm so I can do the school run for DD all by myself which will be nice for me and her .

Off to make a coffee and get myself some lunch.

southernbelle77 · 01/02/2008 12:42

Afternoon!!
I'm here on my own today and it's bliss! Well, it would be if I hadn't been rushing around all morning doing the shopping and will be spending the afternoon doing housework as it's so much easier when I'm on my own!
Waiting for some more info from new parents before can send of my grid and letter to Ofsted telling them how I will cope with 4 under 5's (thanks LT your email was very very helpful and would have replied today but can't get into my email atm!) and then hopefully they will agree and all will be well!!
OK best stop waffling and get on with some housework!

MaureenMLove · 01/02/2008 12:44

Oh, I used to love that feeling ML. There used to be one day a week, when it was just me and DD too. We held hands and skipped all the way home, usually!

I lost my car this morning! I've found it now, but I really did loose it! I always park in roughly the same place in the supermarket carpark, saves me having to think about it when I come out, but the car park was heeeeving this morning, so I drove round and round this huge car part until I found a space. No where near my usual spot and when I came out, with trolly, I really had no recollection what so ever, where I parked it! Really no idea! I wandered, muttering to myself, with wonky wheeled trolley for 10 minutes, until I remembered!

mumlove · 01/02/2008 13:03

belle - can you come and do a little bit of house work for my please because I only have sunday this weekend to do all of my normal weekend things as I am going to our local childminding conference tomorrow.

mo - I have done that plenty of times in car parks!!

dmo · 01/02/2008 13:03

morinig ladies
oh god really dont want to be 40 now mo is losing the plot!

MaureenMLove · 01/02/2008 13:06

Its not the age that's doing it, its the years of wine abuse!

ROSEgarden · 01/02/2008 14:09

hennipenni · 01/02/2008 15:00

Get well vibes from henni to all you poorly minders, still feeling fit and well here.

We've now got snow here an it is starting to settle until the wind whips it up. Mindee1 said ealier, "Oh, we're having a snowflake day!" I thought that was really sweet!

looneytune · 01/02/2008 15:11

Hi everyone

Feeling sorry for myself too, just want some day nurse but can't At least I had a phone call this morning saying I didn't need to pick pre-school mindee up as mum will be home in time to get her so that saved going out this afternoon Just got few more hours then can go back to bed!

So, who has had snow today? We have had a nice sunny day here, cold but nice. Made myself go to the park with the kids for their sake, boy did I ache like mad and constantly blew my nose but they enjoyed it!

SB - no probs, happy to help

Right, off to see if I can find anything to eat that I can actually swallow!

Bye for now

MaureenMLove · 01/02/2008 16:29

Girls, please look on my profile at my pictures. I've come up with a great idea for keeping the lo's safe, whilst you go for a wee. No need for risk assessments before and after either.

looneytune · 01/02/2008 16:35

PMSL - I had an idea it might be there photo!!! Did you know there was something about this pic on Mumsnet recently. Think it was Netmums people coming on and telling MNetters off for having a laugh about it (iirc)

MaureenMLove · 01/02/2008 16:39

Good innit! My mate in Oz sent loads to me. My other favourite is the kid in the trash can, with the slogan, 'Leave your ugly kids here!'
