Policies? Do I need policies? Joke!

Ummm. Not sure really. I kinda just throw them all in the back of my brochure and we discuss them when we get to the end. They are after the contract and child info sheet though, if that helps!

crace · 31/01/2008 17:29

I don't have them in a specific order either, sorry that doesn't help does it?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 31/01/2008 17:35

Hi EM, same as the others, they are in random order in my Portfolio (ooh get me)

KatyMac · 31/01/2008 19:57

Alphabetically?

Mum2Luke · 01/02/2008 17:06

I don't have them in an order as such but I have dividers which tell me which are in which section if thats any help.

I do have an index at the front too so that may help when looking for a particular policy.

I have been showing my childminder buddy (I'm a support childminder) how to put together policies, register herself with Inland revenue etc. She's just had her first OFSTED inspection and is still waiting for her registration certificate, I phoned OFSTED and they said they weren't able to tell me as it was 'confidential' even though I told them I was helping her.

Does anyone else have a 'buddy' scheme in their area where us childminders help and support new Cms?

hennipenni · 01/02/2008 18:54

We have one in our area as well.

hennipenni · 01/02/2008 18:55

Sorry in answer to OP, my policies and procedures are in alphabetical order in my portfolio.

eleanorsmum · 01/02/2008 19:16

ok so alphabetically it is. i take it you have one policy a page then? had done mine as long document to give to parents (less paper for me!) but could do seperate sheets for portfolio i guess, like a master copy?

i have a buddy here - she's lovely!

Mine are all done on seperate pages, also give prents them in the same format.

Yorky · 01/02/2008 21:53

Ooooh, Mum2luke, if she's just had her first inspection can you tell me what to expect please?

mogs0 · 01/02/2008 22:33

As a cm in England, I had no order to my policies but in Wales (I probably still won't have them in order) but they all have to link to a national standard so could potentially go in order of the national standard that they link to. I bet Ofsted/CSSIW would LOVE that!!!!!

KatyMac · 01/02/2008 22:34

Oh - I like that idea

I wonder how much work it would be?

AskABusyPerson · 03/02/2008 14:12

I'm a sad person and I have my policies in same order as inspection sheet, i.e. Helping Children to Be Healthy, Helping Children to be Safe etc ......so yes, I shall be spending the summer putting everything in order of EYFS..... have inspection due Oct/Nov 08!

FeelingOld · 03/02/2008 18:22

I too have mine in the order of the 'every child matters'.

MaureenMLove · 03/02/2008 18:34

Have you got nothing better to do, ladies?
