mumlove · 30/01/2008 07:55

Morning,

Don't worry EM I have also got the cold! Had a sore thoart all weekend the woke up yesterday full of it, so I also have lots of tissues with me.

southernbelle77 · 30/01/2008 07:56

morning. Sorry you're not feeling well EM. Hunted through the cupboards and found some lemsip for you [passes it over]. No tissues I'm afraid so you'll have to use toilet roll until someone else can pass them to you!
Busy day here too with 2 mindees and dd plus friend and her children too!
Going to start finding some bits for chinese new year to do with them next week as well!

KatyMac · 30/01/2008 07:59

"Going to start finding some bits for chinese new year to do"

I read this as

"Going to start finding some bits of cheese to do for new year" - I think I need more sleep - or a new brain

MaureenMLove · 30/01/2008 08:14

Morning all. I had a colouring page for Chinese New Year for my Rainbows a couple of years ago, I'll see if I can link it for you SB.

Having a pants morning so far. Not really bad, just flipping unnecessary crap really. DH has been ignoring me since last night, because I shouted at DD and he is 'sick of hearing me shout at her' I replied, 'well, I'm sick of having to f'ing shout, maybe you could step in to prevent me sounding like a bloody fishwife!' He's ignored me since then! I didn't help matters by doing lots of loud muttering and everytime dd wasn't doing as she was told, I said very loudly, 'I'm not going to shout, it doesn't matter what you do, whatever.'

MaureenMLove · 30/01/2008 08:24

Here we are Not what I was looking for, but perfect for the little ones, SB.

dmo · 30/01/2008 08:28

i feel rot today too (women promblems) not had them for 10yrs so my tummy is in so much pain today just want to lie on the sofa but i will carry on ..........

might run out of the staff room now dont want the dreaded cold aswel, hope your all feeling better soon

looneytune · 30/01/2008 08:56

I may as well mix with the germs then as clearly I'm coming down with it. Bunged up and sore throat, hope it doesn't get too bad as can't take anything for it! Fed up enough with the painful walking, I need this like a hole in the head! Got up in the night to go to the toilet and my god, it took me AGES to get there - couldn't stand straight and could hardly open my legs to walk. THANK GOD it was back to normal painful this morning otherwise I'd have had to close. Getting a tad worried about this now, I MUST get through to 6th June!!!

It's the last day for the sisters today So we'll have a party for lunch. Ds is off school today so can join in (he's not been well but was supposed to go back today but as he's still not 100% and I would have had 5 under 5's on the school run, I decided to keep him home for my sake really . Back to normal tomorrow though, definitely!!

Oh yeah.........how many of you are part of a 'network'? What does it involve? I've always wanted to be in one but my area didn't have one and now they want to set one up but local childminders don't really want it We are therefore having a meeting at local toddler group tomorrow with an Early Years person but would be good to know what it's all about

crace · 30/01/2008 08:57

Hi all, just not a good day in England is it? My baby mindee is full of cold with red eyes that he keeps rubbing. Made me laugh, looking out for the dreaded CJ!!

crace · 30/01/2008 09:06

LT - no good is it - harass them until they get you into the physio. Hope girls last day goes well too

SB - thanks for the reminder about chinese new year, my dd and mindees are the perfect age now to do this stuff so the more the merrier!

Mo- Oh dear, it sounds like your typical mum/daughter relationship. Have you thought about different ways to get her to do things, is it just chores you are having problems with? Maybe some sort of positive reinforcement system? I swear they are never too old for rewards, they love it. A month of good behaviour/chores = something small she'd like?

crace · 30/01/2008 09:07

And hello to EM, mumlove, dmo and Katy - hope you lot feel better soon. Katy- how's your dd today? Shoved off to school?

MaureenMLove · 30/01/2008 09:37

I'm a bit of a hard taskmaster tbh! I don't believe in rewards for doing things you should be doing! She is just a damn dizzy blonde. She's not naughty or really any different from any other 12 year old, but when dh tells me he's sick of hearing me shout, I just loose it! It wouldn't hurt for him to step in and be a parent now and again. He does, mostly, but he doesn't get the early morning crap that I get and thinks I'm being mean! This morning, she lost her tie! Where? She had it on when she came home from school and now its gone! Had she done her jobs and cleared her room up last night and sorted her school stuff, she could have had time to realise her tie was missing!

He's still not talking to me! Silly arse!

southernbelle77 · 30/01/2008 09:46

Oh Katy, thank you for giving me such a good laugh this morning! I would love to go and find some cheese, but it most certainly would not be lasting until New Year
Thanks for the link Mo. Thats the website I was going to look on so now I don't have to hunt through it!
Sorry you're suffering LT. I had SPD with dd and it was awful. Was on crutches from about 24 weeks and it wasn't good. And that was just me and having to contend with getting to work let alone having your own and minded children to worry about. Keep pestering them for physio and get a support if you haven't already got one.
Mindee and dd are playing nice and quietly at the moment (won't last long!) and now wating for mindee 2 to arrive and then my friend and hers and at least 3 of those here will have colds so might have to do a Michael Jackson and wear a cloth over my mouth so I don't get it! Already have the sore throat so don't want a cold too!

crace · 30/01/2008 09:47

To be honest, I am sort of the same way. Do it or die mentality and cos I said so. Men are such fragile creatures aren't they? Just ignore him back!

crace · 30/01/2008 09:48

LOL - sorry, very mature of me

MaureenMLove · 30/01/2008 10:03

Shame he's ignoring me really. Our mortgage completed about 10 mins ago, so I'm rich today! (Just today, it's all assigned to something from tomrrow!) I've tried to phone him and tell him, but he's not taking my call! I might just have to go and spend copious amounts of money today!

MaureenMLove · 30/01/2008 10:06

I think at 12, its perfectly acceptable! Although, I have always been like it with her. I remember once in Woolies, when she was about 2, she was looking at the footballs longingly. A lady said to her, 'maybe mummy will buy you one.' And she said, 'no, because its not my bithday and its no Christmas!' Because she is generally good, she gets rewarded for exta goodness! She did the ironing on Saturday, without asking, without prompting, so I put a fiver on her phone!

mumlove · 30/01/2008 10:27

Right I'm back, I have cappuccino's and chunky kit kats to share, will help with all the colds.
Sorry but can I turn the heating up I am freezing.

crace · 30/01/2008 10:32

Ooooh Kit Kats, thanks!

Mo, yeah that would teach him! ha

dmo · 30/01/2008 12:22

i'll come and help you spend mo

southernbelle77 · 30/01/2008 13:47

I need chocolate!! Ofsted phoned earlier about my variation request but was busy with the mindees so they are calling me back at 2 and I'm really nervous!! Silly really as nothing I can do but really would like them to say yes!
Mo- have you spent all the money yet?!

eleanorsmum · 30/01/2008 13:49

thanks for the kitkat - just what the doctor ordered. i have two screaming mindees in cots upstairs - just had to get away for a mo. one is nearly asleep then cries and wakes the other again! ARG! what can i do?

OP posts:
southernbelle77 · 30/01/2008 13:55

Know that feeling EM. I have one alseep in the pushchair now and the other one is chattering to himself in the cot and hoping he will drop off before long!

hennipenni · 30/01/2008 14:54

Henni bounces into the staff room looking an feeling very healthy, looks around and tuts at all the poorly minders, busies (Is that a word?) herself handing out soothing lemsips, chicken soup and turning the lighting down low so they all rest.

Have had a lovely if not busy day with mindees, ones now asleep the others at nursery and the last one is watching Cbeeebies (is very tired today for some reason!)

I have finally organised and booked my 40th party, yippee. And, DH has found a lovely weeken tent for us, just need to source a cheaper one.

MamaG · 30/01/2008 14:59

MO YOU'VE WON TEH FUCKING HOLIDAY!!!!! WELL DONE LOVE! MANY CONGRATULATIONS!!!

crace · 30/01/2008 15:15

Ok girls quick! Give me the lowdown on assistants? I am allowed 3 under 8 at the mo and that's going to go down to 2 once baby comes. I keep having to turn people away from my rapidly growing village.

So, if I get an assistant asap can they do things like school run? And I would keep them on when I go on leave... help! They probably won't be a registered c/m just an assistant..
