Hi all, im looking for a bit of advice :) i'm 17 with a 2 year old dd, does anyone know if i'd be able to get free childcare as an apprentice? i know there's schemes for young parents in education (care to learn etc) but would i qualify as an apprentice?

if anybody knows or could give me some advice it'd be extremely appreciated, tia x

Not free childcare for education, as you would technically be employed. You however might be entitled to any of: tax free childcare, universal credit or the 15/30 free hours

If you go to www.childcarechoices.gov.uk and fill in your circumstances it will tell you what you’re entitled too

If you claim other benefits you might get 15 hours 2yo funding from the Term after she turns 2. Do you claim uc and have household income under £15,400?

As you’re 17 there may be other schemes in place.
you’re doing an apprenticeship so will have a study day. Does your college have a childcare scheme?

otherwise UC will pay for up to 85% of childcare costs if you are in employment.
