Paying for absent days??

I started with a new childminder after christmas. Everything is going really well and LO has settled in.

I have had paper work, policies signed consent forms etc, but as yet have not had contract - have asked and it is on it's way. ALthough not too worried about it.

This month my LO was sick for 1 week. I phoned and let CM know and asked about paying - CM said as we had no contract she wouldn't expect to be paid.

Following week he had another day out as I was working away and took him to his grannies as it was a 12 hour day and she is only avilable 9-5, as disccused when we started. So do I pay her for this day or not?

Think I will as a good will gesture? What you think?

Goodwill is worth a lot!

It was very nice of her offer that you didn't need to pay for a week because the contract hadn't been signed. I would definitely pay her (and tell her love her).

All childminders must by law sign a contract,This will need to be signed before the childminding begins. This is to protect both chidminder and parents.contract,
so why you didn,t????????

Seems odd that there has been no contract signed. Have you seen her registration certificate and insurance policy? (both of which have to be displayed during working hours)I would get that contract signed ASAP, it is a legal requirement on the childminders part.

I pay half rate of for sickness or absence - the same if CM is sick/on holiday.

Yes she is fully vetted (sp) just not got round to that bit of the paper work, but will remind her again this week.

Many thanks for the responses.
