I have found a lovely lady who has just started childminding and am thinking of using her a couple of mornings a week. If her dh is at home do they have to have a crb aswell?

only if the dh is left alone with the children. if she is always there, then no he doesn't need to.

In England, yes anyone aged 16 or over in the household requires a CRB check. At least that was the case when I worked for the regulator back in 2003 - can't imagine that it has changed.

oh ok maybe i am wrong, sorry

thought it was only if they were left alone with the kids, my dh is a teacher tho so has been crb checked anyway for his job

Yes they do. My DH has had one and my eldest ds is waiting fopr the CC to visit and do his check now he is 16. Have to do the CRB and check his passport and birth certificate NI number etc.

The level of check is different which is what may have confused you. The childminder themselves have an Enhanced check, whereas others have a Standard check.
It may have changed over the years of course. Anyone registered recently as a childminder?

Thanks I wasn't sure but it makes me feel better that they have. I just had to get another crb (got one last jan) to cover an adult yoga class in the evening at our local leisure centre.

I can have 4 done a year! Wish they would sort the system out, so it was constantly updated and the employer just checks an id against a database entry or something.

yes as nannynick says everyone over 16yrs in household has to have a CRB check
