CM Club - how to hire a sort of flexible assistant please!

Long story short, I may be leaving minding in Sept to go to university. As I'm somewhat sceptical of some local minders, the only one I particularly trust is a friend who minds, who already has 6 under 8. She's willing to drop two to make space for mine, although it makes us both sad as they've been with her for ages, but mine have provisionally been on her waiting list for years However we're trying to work it so that she can have 7 under 8, so we see the only possibility is an assistant.

She doesn't mind any over , but has her own 8 year old daughter. She minds a 5 year old and has her own 5 year old, minds a 3 years old 2.5 days, minds a 2 year old fuill time and has her own 1 year old.

So if we got a variation so she could have my daughter instead of another 5 -8, then so far so good.

But then there's my son, technically if we could fit him in it'd only be the 2.5 days as she has 6 on 2.5 days a week. So she could do 3 days after school but not the other two so if I have to go to Uni those days I'm guessing its after school club for him.

So those 2.5 days during the holidays, can she hire an assistant? And will they let her when she has a diddy flat, if it's only my son that's over? (although assistant has one under and one over 5?) what would we have to do? and would we be pushing it so the assistant has the other 5 year old thats holiday time only that friend has to drop??

term time -

mondays/tuesdays
own 9,5,1
5 year old 3.30 - 6.30
3 year old 8.15 - 5.45
2 year old 8.30 - 5.30
2 year old 7.15 - 6.30 (don't know hours/days though, this is worst case scenario)

wednesday
own 9,5,1
5 year old 3.30 - 6.30
3 year old 8.15 - 12.00
2 year old 8.30 - 5.30
2 year old 7.15 - 6.30
then my ds
4 year old 3.30 - 6.30 (rising five)

thursday
own 9,5,1
5 year old 3.30 - 6.30
2 year old 8.30 - 5.30
2 year old 7.15 - 6.30
then my ds
4 year old 3.30 - 6.30 (rising five)

friday
own 9,5,1
5 year old 3.30 - 6.30
2 year old 8.30 - 2.45
2 year old 7.15 - 6.30
then my ds
4 year old 3.30 - 6.30 (rising five)

So I know if I need childcare for my ds (the rising five) mondays and tuesdays I need alternative care. An assistant won't work cos the one we have in mind has her own kids and it won't be practical for dinner time.

holiday time:

term time -

mondays/tuesdays
own 9,5,1
5 year old 8.00 - 6.30
3 year old 8.15 - 5.45
2 year old 8.30 - 5.30
2 year old 7.15 - 6.30 (don't know hours/days though, this is worst case scenario)

wednesday
own 9,5,1
5 year old 8.00 - 6.30
3 year old 8.15 - 12.00
2 year old 8.30 - 5.30
2 year old 7.15 - 6.30
then my ds
4 year old 12.00 - 6.30 (rising five)

thursday
own 9,5,1
5 year old 8.00 - 6.30
2 year old 8.30 - 5.30
2 year old 7.15 - 6.30
then my ds
4 year old 7.15 - 6.30 (rising five)

friday
own 9,5,1
5 year old 8.00 - 6.30
2 year old 8.30 - 2.45
2 year old 7.15 - 6.30
then my ds
4 year old 7.15 - 6.30 (rising five)

So mondays, tuesdays and before 12 wednesday I may need care for my son (the rising five).

Also friend currently minds a boy of 6, who is 9.15 - 4, who ideally she doesn't want to give notice to, but will not work with above arrangements.

Does that make sense?

The possible assistant, has two daughters, one will be 5 and the other will be a rising five. They will be present too in the holidays.

Hang on - she must already have a variation for 4 under 5's (looking at Monday only)?

lunavix · 25/01/2008 13:50

she will need the variation yes, this is to start september so we're hoping she gets the various to have my two year old dd. Who is then the fourth under 5 and taking up a 5-8s space.

So she needs
a) a variation for 4 under 5
b) an assistant to cover mon, tues, weds morning in holidays (or maybe full time to cover that 6 year old too)

and I need
childcare for ds mon, tues after school
