I currently charge half fees at the moment but will soon be charging full. I'm losing a lot of money through sickness at the moment.

carol3 · 23/01/2008 15:55

Look at it this way, you are still available to work so the space is still available, however, unlike some minders around my area I still don't charge if I'm sick or my DDs as I'm not available.

Tommy · 23/01/2008 16:02

you would still pay for nursery if they were off sick

carol3 · 23/01/2008 16:04

yes, your right, Gosh do people still charge when they are sick had no idea? Do you think it matters if they are not full time?

hennipenni · 23/01/2008 16:06

It doesn't matter if their full or part time.

ConnorTraceptive · 23/01/2008 16:07

I would still expect to pay if ds were off sick

carol3 · 23/01/2008 16:10

thanks for the imput, looks like its more the norm to charge then?

my CM charges me if DS is off sick but not if she is off sick. Though tbh I don't deduct money as long as she only has a few days a year.

Kewcumber · 23/01/2008 16:15

I don't think any/many Cm's around here charge if they are off sick.

IdrisTheDragon · 23/01/2008 16:16

I would pay our childminder if DS and/or DD were off sick - they would still be available. It's only if they aren't available that I wouldn't pay.

CatIsSleepy · 23/01/2008 16:17

I pay my CM if my dd's off sick too

dustystar · 23/01/2008 16:19

I don't charge for my current mindee but thats becuase his mum and I are friends and i'm only minding again to help her out. When I was minding fulltime I charged full rate for any contracted hours where I was available but the mindee didn't attend. This covered sickness and holidays/occasional days off. If I was off sick (or my children) or on holiday I didn't charge as my service was not available.

carol3 · 23/01/2008 16:32

thanks everyone really useful

my cm charges full rate - which I think is perfectly reasonable as the place is available for me to use, it isn't her fault ds can't go.

chel86 · 23/01/2008 20:39

I charge if mindee if off sick, but not if I'm off sick - I charge if my service is still available

dinny · 23/01/2008 20:40

my ds does half a day with a cm and I definitely would expect to pay normal amount if he was poorly

LoveMyGirls · 23/01/2008 20:43

I do otherwise parents could be a bit skint, send child to grandparent's and not pay me. I don't charge for mine or my children's sickness so its swings and roundabouts.

bigdonna · 24/01/2008 12:10

i charge for sickness full or part time places.
