Child protection device.

I’m creating a device made for protecting school children while they walk home alone. Any ideas that anyone would like the contribute?

Can you really not think of anything yourself? If you came on with a few ideas you could get constructive feedback but sorry no, the internet isn’t going to do your homework for you.

I would say a hat.
Protects from sun.
Protects from rain.

It’s been done before though, so you might need to pimp it up.

I’m a student… This is for an engineering project. Nice try tho. I’m not selling it.

Damn right you aren’t

How about an umbrella/parasol for sun and rain protection. With a built in rape alarm and pepper spray in the handle. Just make sure the pepper spray outlet is facing your attacker not you before you press the button.

Giant zorbing ball covered in spikes. And snakes. And mousetraps.

whataloadabullocks · 08/07/2022 21:43

Well it's obvious isn't it? A hooverboard so they can nip away from danger

whataloadabullocks · 08/07/2022 21:44

Argh nooo not hoover I mean hover, although I suppose with a hoover you could suck up potential danger

LuckyLuckyWoman · 08/07/2022 21:48

Forcefield?

Whyarewehardofthinking · 08/07/2022 21:51

If you are thinking about actual protection I can guarantee it won't be allowed in a school, so pointless.

And I say this having had stripped knives, knuckle dusters, pepper spray and multiple BB guns from kids before.

Isn't the idea that you engineer some possible solutions then use a focus group (aka us) to chat about them?

Have you researched whether parents want a protection device?

jewishmum · 08/07/2022 22:01

An electric shield that electrocutes anyone who touches them

Bwix · 08/07/2022 22:03

Bayonet. Very versatile and allows them to channel their aggression when they really need it. Also what about tactical nukes?

parietal · 08/07/2022 22:06

what about a well-trained snow leopard to ride? it should be trained to maul any approaching baddies but to only gently pat the toddlers and other school children.

or you better think of a different problem to solve

Hoppinggreen · 08/07/2022 22:15

Teleportation device?
obviously it would need to teleport the child somewhere safe rather than into a dessert or under the sea. That part would need some thinking about

GlacindaTheTroll · 08/07/2022 22:23

Standard issue unicorn to make the school run the school ride

Biggest hazard is traffic - perhaps the unicorn would be able to clear all vehicles with a single bound? Or at least be trained to pay attention to traffic - as it's the momentary distraction that leads to child casualties

WishILivedInThrushGreen · 08/07/2022 22:29

Pepper sprays ( which are illegal) rape alarms ( which won't prevent an attack) tracker devices ( which mean nothing unless you're on a device and actually tracking them) have all been invented.

Do you mean an actual device? Like an instant shield? Or a cocoon?
If it's a weapon then it will be illegal.
If it's anything that will harm a predator then it will be illegal.

Not sure that anything will help.
An SOS alarm would be meaningless as by the time it's responded to, it will be too late.

Or a Pegasus that could take to the air if there was danger?
obviously a safety harness would be needed (I’ve seen Clash of the Titans)

I think a lot of kids would be quite happy to teleport into dessert. Trifle? Crumble? ;-))

My DD (11) has a phone and an Apple Watch. What more could she need?

Something that’s not so expensive that she’s likely to get mugged for them!

A protection device. While an apple watch and airtag is great it won’t help much with protecting our children from potential attackers. My aim is to create a device that will help protect children from attackers.

😂
Good luck with that OP!

alnawire · 02/08/2022 10:14

A parent?

Egglantina · 02/08/2022 10:44

Invisibility cloak, chewing gum that can stick an attacker to the ground/wall if it touches masonry (could be an issue with the local council/pranksters)/ultra high speed air jets that pop out of your school blazer and puff your assailant away? You might need to buy the anchoring devices that ping out of your shoes too but that would be an upsell at POS.

Maybe not…
