hi - looking for advice
i ve accumulated child care vouchers during the pandemic and my kids both start secondary school in september. do you know if secondary schools accept these for afterschool clubs? the government says it can until kids are 15, but so far i have not had any response from the school and they dont seem to know which i find odd.
any advice and what's your experience?
thanks in advance :)

No after-school club care at my DD's high school. There might be a few activity clubs but these aren't consistent.
Not sure I know any places that do wrap around care tbh. Some might offer breakfast in the canteen.
I think at this age kids are expected to just go home/look after themselves.

There aren't after school clubs in secondary school. You can use them in holiday clubs I think.

My ds high school don't offer any wrap around care. What about using them for holiday clubs over summer?

Yep, what @Beamur says. Our school doesn't offer wrap around care as such, and after school activity clubs generally tend to be free.

How about using them up during school holidays? Do you have any providers offering week-long sports clubs or anything like that?

It's a pain though, isn't it? I have an older child in y8 and another in y5. I've dropped my monthly payment into the account to a single pound to try and run down the excess.

does it say on the school website that they offer paid after school clubs? IME sometimes outside providers offer stuff but you’d have to speak to them to see if they take vouchers. Otherwise it’s holiday clubs or stuff like childminders who might take 11yr olds.

I think you can also use them for extra curricular activities such as music lessons and swimming lessons. Worth a though??
