OK, Christmas starts here! Just checked bank balances, DH worked very hard for me this month! Good boy! (grin] I'll be shopping all day if anyone wants me Actually I've got mindee til lunch time, so maybe not!

You know what? Its the shortest day of the year today, so that means its all up, up, up til Spring from tomorrow!

Now then, what can I find you all in my bag? Ah, here we go, pressies, mulled wine & mince pies and crakers!

Enjoy!

I'm working 9-1 today, so need to do some research so I find something to do with the children.

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 21/12/2007 07:37

What ages have you got Nick?

LoveMyGirls · 21/12/2007 07:43

Morning everyone,

I'm working until 3.30 then I'll probably do a food shop and go round my mums and wrap even more presents while dp looks after our dd's (he's off today was on his works do last night, hes not home yet hope his hangover isnt too bad!)

It's my ft mindee last day today I was meant to have my pt mindee 3 til 6 but they rang and asked if I could swap and do 11.30 to 1.30 instead which is great for me because then I get to finish early dp will get some quality time with dd's so it's win win.

Physical age 3 and 5, both are autistic.

May end up going for a walk - they like that usually... map reading, using GPS, seeing how close they can get to a cow before the cow moves, climbing trees, etc. Can't find anything indoors that is interesting going on locally.

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 21/12/2007 07:53

That sounds lovely!

nannynick · 21/12/2007 07:58

Trouble is... it may be a bit cold!

But it is far less stressful than indoor play, plus they don't tend to like places where there are other people.

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 21/12/2007 08:05

No such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing! Wrap everyone up warm and then come home for a lovely warm cup of chocolate or something!

nannynick · 21/12/2007 08:08

Very true... though getting autistic children to wear clothes can be a challenge. Will have to see if today is a wearing jumper and coat day, or not. With luck it will be a welly boot day.

mumlove · 21/12/2007 08:10

Goodmorning everyone.
Just been out to de-ice the car, it was loads betters than yesterday. Now waiting for mindees to arrive and do the school run.

shoshaliteupthetree · 21/12/2007 08:49

shoshaliteupthetree · 21/12/2007 08:50

Oh joy of joy last day of work!!!!

All My SAHMindees will be finishing at lunch time just two SchoolieMindees after 3, have bought them a dvd (we were going out to tea but Mum's hoping to finish earlier now)
So we are going to watch Miracle on 34th Street.

Our Christmas Day is on Sunday as we dont have DGD on real Christmas Day, and last night Best friends phoned to say was it all right to pop in on Sunday morning with their respective DD's to bring pressies

Both of my Best Freinds are young enough to be my daughters and are very much like daughters both their DD's call me Nanny.

So will have DGD DS DDIL and all the surrogate DD's DSIL, and DGD's here

Oh and DH in the kitchen [fgin]

drinkmulledwineoften · 21/12/2007 09:18

coming to this staff room as i dont like christmas cake

should have listened to Katy last night and not opened my door this morning
think i will go to plan A

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 21/12/2007 09:27

Good idea DMO, run them ragged and then bring them back into a extra warm house, so they're really sleepy!

DH has got the right royal grumps. He has 2 engineers in today out of 7, which means he's going to have to do half the work himself. Not only that, but the engineer on call over night for the next 7 days, has also phoned in sick! Someone has to cover nights and it could now be DH doing it, as he's the boss. Lots of lovely money at the end of January, but at the expense of any sort of Christmas, with him on nights for the next 7 days starting tonight! I hope to god he can get it sorted.

Morning all

Lucky Mo on shopping but how crap is that about dh having to work Btw, thanks for the presents etc!!!

I've just put baby mindee down for a nap, she stayed again last night and slept through til 8.15 which was fab as decided last night not to take ds for last day at nursery today so at least didn't have to set alarm clock

Am I the only one not finishing early today???? I'm due to finish at 6pm as usual. And double pay baby's mum has texted this morning saying she thinks she has a bug as was throwing up all night so feel bad for her but desperately hoping she doesn't collect and pass to us so we get for Christmas!!!

Oh.....just emailed mum of the 2 sisters to ask if she knows whether or not I'm needed Monday. Do you think that's wrong for me to ask rather than wait? It's just that on Wednesday she said she didn't think I'd be needed but she'd confirm and of course I want to know whether or not today is my last day!!! I'm off to email other baby's mum to see if I'm needed between Christmas and New Year as that's also not 100% confirmed yet! I JUST WANT TO KNOW!!!!

Another question......had this blood test yesterday and was told I could try seeing if the results are in this afternoon as they'll rush them through. So, what time do I call the surgery do you think?

Off to get food as not eaten yet.

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 21/12/2007 11:01

Yippee, confirmed not needed between Christmas and New Year, just need to know about Christmas eve now!

MightyMoosh · 21/12/2007 11:57

merry christmas all!

drinkmulledwineoften · 21/12/2007 12:34

having a bad day!!!!

just b4 we set off for the park some body shouted dmo look! i looked and wish i hadnt the toilet had flooded with poo and water all over the floor so i had to don the gloves and stick my hand in there (was nearly sick) then got the mop down for an extra push.

went to the park, children not in proper clothing ie no hats, gloves routed out hats b4 we went but had no spare gloves (parents where told we were going to the park today) started off ok on the park but then the crying began cause they were cold and two screamed the whole way home

got home and a mum was on the doorstep as she had finished early so gave child to her with bag etc turned round and playroom (wooden floor) is covered in wet mud from shoes then somebody had walked upstairs in the muddy shoes and along the landing

just as i found all this out dh phoned and i nearly started to cry

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 21/12/2007 13:14

Oh dmo, what a nightmare Hope you have a better afternoon!!

mumlove · 21/12/2007 13:52

I've finished for xmas, so now going to put my feet up until I need to get DD from school.
DMO - I hope this afternoon is non eventful.

nannynick · 21/12/2007 13:56

oh no blocked loo... bad.

I survived... only just. 5 year old had major meltdown - not sure why, think it was because we had to go down a path which he didn't want to go down. Alas on a walk, sometimes there is little choice about which direction to go - unless you fancy getting lost. He got over it in the end and enjoyed the walk after having a drink and snack.

Went to the bank on the way home (haven't been for ages, so hard to find time during banking hours to bank cheques)... to find that the bank had moved since I had last been there! Fortunately the new branch (a 10 min walk away, was open today, so finally got cheques in - though doubt they will clear before January).

MightyMoosh · 21/12/2007 14:00

blocked loo- think we all feel your pain! Just realised I've got very little for my mum (book she asked for and a spongebob pillow, dont ask) so now I have to go out and buy more. bugger.

shoshaliteupthetree · 21/12/2007 14:01

Nick hasn't your bank got a night safe?

I put mine in after work.

I put mine in there with a paying in slip in a sealed envelope. They are paid in 1st think in the morning.

nannynick · 21/12/2007 14:03

Why buy more, if those are things she wanted. I'm sure she would rather you kept the money, than come to her in a few months time saying you were skint and want her to loan you money.

If you are visiting her over Xmas, perhaps get some flowers, bottle of alc, that sort of thing, as a thank you for xmas dinner.

nannynick · 21/12/2007 14:06

Nope, they are relocating branches to the inside of shopping centres... and making as much in the branch as automated as possible.

Branch in a major town about 20 min drive away used to have 24-hour access via swipe card, but they withdrew that - and the hole in the wall won't accept payments in.

MightyMoosh · 21/12/2007 14:29

nick- im working xmas eve am then travelling to cornwall in the afternoon, so no chance for flowers- and diabetes mean no alchohol/chocs. I have just found a santa I got her ages ago, better than nowt.

Oh and shes working xmas day so my and sisters doing xmas dinner- if she leaves any for us, she'll do everything day before knowing her!
