nothing in our contract just says that if payment not received within 7 days notice will be given , I have spoken to her and she says she thinks it will be okay will be in affect 4 days late in paying her, but will pay in cash with the money due to Christmas/New Year hols etc , should I put in some extra as an apology or get box of choc etc ??? (in hindsight I could've paid by cheque I suppose but that may have been more of a faff for her to go into town to pay it in...)feeling a bit crap about it and its all DP's tightass fault!!

i'd say just get her an extra special xmas pressy and as handing it to her apologise again for the late present.....and if she is charged by her bank for any direct debits she's missed because you've missed the payment date then pay that to her aswell....

I normally pay by cash at the beginning of every week (not sure why really goes back to when I only had one DC!)think she uses the cash for her day to day expenses as her other 'big' full time customer pays her by cheque at beginning of month.
I have never paid late before in last 2 years but , I know she has had problems before with people not paying her at all for weeks at a time and I don't want her to think am taking the piss cos its Christmas..am hoping that DP gets his arse into gear and draws some ££ out of his 'spare' account so we can pay her tonight/tomorrow instead of Friday

yeah, if she's said its fine, then dont worry, just make her aware that if you cause her any trouble with her bank then you'll cover it, and give her a nice xmas pressy and let her know you wont make a habit of paying her late.

I'm a cm and I wouldn't expect extra money, but a box of chocs or a bunch of flowers would be a very nice gesture.

Thats a idea she likes flowers , I'll get her a bunch from the florist in town on Friday

Give her a nice pressie to say thanks and deduct it's value from what you were going to spend on DP (since it's his fault).

twofishes · 18/12/2007 16:14

Gloria am thinking of making him go to Florist to get the flowers...with a minimum spend set of course!!

Sounds reasonable to me. And make him go to the florist and not tesco!!

I have just the place in mind, right near where we work very classy and with it being Xmas v expensive too..fortunately Tesco is too far to walk
