Am I too late to get 30 hours childcare from jan?

Read on the HMRC website that we have until 31 December to apply for 30 hours free childcare but nursery staff have told me deadline was yesterday for January and I have to wait until April now and it can't be backdated. Is this true? If so I'm absolutely gutted!!

As far as I know the deadline has passed now.

No, you’re not too late
The deadline is 31st December
But it might be too late for the nursery to adjust the bill

Our nursery set a different date than is on the website. I’m sure I’ve applied late and it’s not been a problem, purge application through on HMRC and see what happens!

You can still apply now but they say to apply by 30th November to guarantee you’ll get your code by 31st December.
Definitely apply now, you will most probably get the code in time.

I applied on the 9th Dec a few years back and got it through straightaway.

In my borough last day for settings to apply to be paid next term is Monday so if paperwork is not completed before we won't get paid until March. We can ask parents to pay then refund but obviously without doing something we are even shorter on funds to pay staff etc.
