What policies have you got? Bromley childminding website has some good ones you can download

dustystar · 14/12/2007 14:17

oh - and don't panic

Hennipenniinapeartree · 14/12/2007 14:22

Thanks, I think my policies are ok just need a bit more depth, have used some of the Bromley ones before- I'm not the most confident person in my own abilities!

I have about 25 policies which my inspector seemed to love. The more paperwork the better it seems

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 14/12/2007 14:26

if you want further idea's, look at my website: link here for all my full policies.

must dash to school, you'll be fine xx

Risk assessment seems to be the in thing so if you download one of those forms and fill it out I'm sure it will go down well.

Hennipenniinapeartree · 14/12/2007 14:46

Have permission for obs although I on't o them as such- just in the form of a detailed diary.

Get references from your parents. Not because OFSTED will want to see them, but because they will tell you what you are worth and it won't matter how OFSTED grade you.

In other words, don't spend all Christmas worrying about it! If you've got most of the things in place that are already on this thread you will be fine. OFSTED are just a little inconvenience in your day, they are not in charge in your house, you are. The children you care for and their parents are the most important critics you've got and if they're happy, everyones happy.

Please don't let it spoil your Christmas.

Hennipenniinapeartree · 14/12/2007 17:11

Thanks for your wise words Mo, I am feeling a little better about it, I have already got fantastic written refs from my parents. And get this, I now have a certificate for my gas fire and boiler as they have just been serviced. I am going to put it in my portfolio!!

On the last course i attended, they said we needed to have signed evidence that all parents have read and have access to a copy of all your policies and also that they have a copy of your last inspection or know how to access it via the internet.
