You are very honoured to be the first people to see my website, I thought I would get it sorted as I need to advertise and it may help me fill my vacancies. It is not advertised yet as I have neve done a website before and I am sure there are lots of changes I need to make, and things I should tweak, so was hoping for secod opinions. Be gentle!

Ok here goes ...

eek

Oh yes have put my name for now but if anyone wants to suggest a business name I am open to suggestions. Am also going to put a photo on my home page when I find a decent up to date one!

oh yes and on my editor bit it says 'get a domain name' what does this mean?/entail?/cost?

I am quite clueless about these things tbh!

just had a look at your website it's great - can't believe how little you charge for meals though - how much is a school lunch in your area?

BoysAreLikeReindeer · 13/12/2007 21:38

Kay It looks very professional.

A few typos in the Toys and Games list, easily changed.

AS for technical stuff, erm, no idea about domain name etc, sorry.

HTH

Aw thanks! There is more I want to do to it, but I have a million and one hings to do like all us cms so thought I would get a few pointers.

School lunches were free in my town for everyone until september (our town were way ahead of Jamie Oliver on the school dinners front , now if you aren't entitled to free meals I think they are £1.50ish. TBH it is only kids entitled to them free that eat them around here.

Thanks again for looking, am gonna have a quick tidy up while no one around (DP and DS both went to bed early tonight!), then hop off to bed myself as I am shattered! See you around tomorrow.

school dinners here are about £1:65 so i charge £1:50 (to include snacks and drinks) and i pay for groups/trips and claim back on tax

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 13/12/2007 22:07

Looking good Kay! One thing I didn't see, was what schools you are able to pick up and drop at, but I might have just missed that! Although, that said, I did read the home page and I suppose if you are trying to get business, you need to put that on the home page, because people will not bother reading further if its not a school that suits them.

Looney knows all about web designing, give her a nudge tomorrow, she'll know about the domain thing.

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 13/12/2007 22:12

Yeah, you can get a domain name for £6.79 (i think) for 2 years with who I use for my customers and myself. The domain name is whatever you want for your www address i.e. my domain is www.helenslittleangels.co.uk (and I direct it to my free tiscali webspace). I'm soooo ready for my pit too as been a long old day (not child wise but getting my head round stuff wise ). Give me a shout in the staffroom tomorrow or email me (address on my website).

Night xx

dmo · 13/12/2007 22:51

new rule from tax credits

drum roll please

if you provide a hot meal for a child you can claim back 3 pound

if you provide a snack meal for a child you can claim back 1.50

i dont charge parents for meals now i just claim these amounts back, dont even need shopping recipts

dmo · 13/12/2007 22:52

btw love your web pages

nannynick · 13/12/2007 23:54

Looking good, well done Query... can you include pictures on the pages with the text, as well as having the picture gallery?

If funds allow, you could even use some 'stock photos' (professionally taken photos from around the world). You can how stock photos can be used on a website, by looking at mine.

Domain Name - Something like: childminder-in-hull.co.uk will cost you around £3 per year (minimum period 2 years, thus £6).
A .com address will cost more.
Not sure how Premium Services on FreeWebs works, but I would expect that by buying other services from them, that advertising is removed. Check the terms.

KaySamuels · 14/12/2007 08:26

dmo - that sounds interesting re meals, will look into that.

mml - thanks will stick that in on homepage, it's quite important as I don't drive atm so can only do my nearest priamary and nursery.

maximummy- I pay for groups too will put hat on!

looney - thanks will look into that! My tiredness was head wise too! My brain grinds to a halt after 7pm I'm sure of it!

nannynick- - I can include pictures on other pages yes, just need to find some nice ones that I have web permission for! Oness I have on at the mo are ds and two dss. Think some morepictures wll brighen it up a litle.

Thanks for the advice everyone, what would I do without MN! Planning to get it up and running by Monday so may bump this over the weekend when I have made changes!
