Would a nanny's Xmas bonus affect her Universal Credit?

Just that really. We employ a nanny three days a week (she's self employed as she also works for other families the rest of the week) and was going to give her a Xmas bonus equivalent to one weeks pay but now I'm thinking that might affect her universal credit which I know she also claims. Does anyone know if this is the case? Should I give her vouchers instead? - I'd rather do money as I know it'll be more useful to her but I don't want to mess anything up.

@Terminallysleepdeprived it doesn’t work that way

I bet she would love cash ! Do that

Cash in hand

@Viviennemary

Cash and/or bonus from employer should be declared on UC claims. Otherwise it's fraud.
It's a Christmas present for Christ sake

soSitting I know, but it sounds like the nanny is working full time. We need people to earn enough when they work full time that they can live on their earnings. If they cannot, then the employer(s) is/are expecting others to subsidise them. That’s not OK. I obviously blame Amazon far more than the OP, but nonetheless: the OP should be paying a living wage.

@WorkingItOutAsIGo

Why are you not paying her enough that she doesn’t qualify for UC? Why do you think it OK for taxpayers to subsidise you?
Omg that is so rude. A lady I work with is a single parent she earns the same as me full time but she gets universal credit to top up her wage. We don't earn bad money. Educate yourself and stop insulting people

Bet the op is so glad she posted Sad

Grinch is that you?!

What a truly worthless thing to bring to the conversation!

@Pumpkinsonparade

Fucking hell is the bloody Grinch on here tonight??
I don't think it's grinch-like to question whether the OP is trying to avoid giving her employee employment rights and avoid tax by claiming she is "self-employed"...
