Anyone know registered nanny/childminder in the Kingston/Sunbury area who I could talk to? I'm so stupid, I can't believe I forgot to book a sitter in the Christmas season.

I have e-mailed a few babysitters from nannyjob. Has anyone used nanny job for a babysitter? Do you ask her to bring CRB check etc. with her and check it?

I am a nanny (21 years experience) and know sunbury quite well, I'm currently working near Slough and am free on Sat, if you don't find anyone let me know. I can send you a copy of my c.v and you can call my current employer for a reference, I have police check (July 2007) but don't have it on-line. Am going to Sunbury leisure centre to the gym tonight at 7:30, providing my boss is home on time!! And will be there til 10ish. I charge 7.50 per hour before midnight and 9 pounds after. E-mail me callaird at yahoo dot co dot uk

GloriaInEleusis · 06/12/2007 16:43

I've just sent you an e-mail. £7.50 is a bit steep, but then I'm the bozo who forgot to book sitter. So what the heck. Must live on the edge sometimes.

I've been a nanny a long time, I don't need to babysit, I earn a very good wage, just thought I'd offer to help out if you need it! I don't mean that as rude as it sounds, just trying to justify my fee!

callaird · 06/12/2007 17:18

Can't open your e-mail. i don't know what is wrong, might be good with kids but rubbish with technology!!

nannynick · 06/12/2007 18:20

A family I babysit for (who had booked Saturday evening) just e-mailed me saying they were no longer going out... so I'm available if you wish. But my prices are probably a bit more than you would pay, callaird is cheaper!

GloriaInEleusis · 06/12/2007 18:25

Oh good lord, go on amuse me. What do you charge?

OP posts:
nannynick · 06/12/2007 18:29

A mere £10 per hour (with a 3 hour minimum)... but there is no Membership fee or Booking Fee, so I can work out cheaper than some Agencies you may know of, if you do not go out that often.

GloriaInEleusis · 06/12/2007 18:32

Well, sitters costs £4 to book and £5.35 an hour with a four hour minimum.

However, if I was only going out for 3 hours, then you would not be that far off competitive.

Anyway, unless Callaird turns out to be a scary harry trucker (or worse a biker!) then she beat you to it.

Maybe I'll call you when I win the lottery.

and you could try www.findasitter.co.uk but there is a one off joining fee of £30 for the year

nannynick · 06/12/2007 18:38

Plus Sitters charges a £12.95 per 3-month membership fee, which is automatically re-billed to a credit card, unless you tell them specifically to cancel membership (see their terms and conditions).

So once all fees are taken account of, in some circumstances I can be a very slight lower cost, if parents do not go out often, or for very long.

My fees of course represent my level of training, experience, reliability, that sort of thing, plus I'm a bit down the M3 from you and in my area parents will pay my rates.

Think I will plan for a night on the town, do me good to have a night off.

nannynick · 06/12/2007 18:39

Sorry, error there... it's £12.75 per 3 months (reminder to self, check website prior to posting).

nannynick · 06/12/2007 18:41

Oh spotted another thing, Sitters are £6.05 per hour in our area (I am assuming you are in TW postcode).

FindABabysitter is also good - you can find me there

nannynick · 06/12/2007 18:44

Callaird - hope you get in touch with Eleusis, from her posts on Mumsnet, she sounds really nice and I expect her children are nice as well. Plus, I'm miles away and prefer not to travel that far!

nannynick · 06/12/2007 18:45

ska - I meant to say FindASitter of course, not the other one. Not that I've had any enquiries via FindASitter... maybe I'm a little too expensive

amidaiwish · 06/12/2007 18:49

i know a couple of very good local babysitters, CAT me i'll give you their numbers. £8/hour though

ska · 06/12/2007 19:43

hi nick, don't know why - sorry. having lots of success with special needs sitters recently which is really great but of course we do all kinds of sitters for all kinds of families - and we have over 4000 sitters registered!!! advert over, sorry

callaird · 07/12/2007 13:00

I don't think I am that scary, do have quite a lot of hair and I do have my HGV 3 licence!! OK so it ran out a while ago but I do have one! I hope we are still on for tonight, Eleusis, I am finishing work early tonight so will go home and try to scrub off baby goo, snot, vomit and glitter and glue before I come over!

GloriaInEleusis · 07/12/2007 14:08

Yes, definitely still on. Looking forward to meeting you!
