Tax free childcare help

Hi, just wondering if anyone can explain how the tax free childcare payments work, the information given is minimal at best. I understand we make payments into the childcare account. But say we've got to pay nursery £1000 do we put it all in the account? Does it get topped up by them after every payment? It says something about every 3 months on there and now I'm just confused. Any help would be so appreciated!

Hi
So you get a maximum top up allowance every three months. So once that has been exceeded, you won’t get a top up on any extra you put in the account.
However each time you put money in, you see the government top up appear straight away :)
