CM - Advice about late payer please

I have a parent who for the past 4 weeks pays me a few days late. Wasn't really to much of a problem but now it's Christmas and with dreaded January looming, I could do with the money being on time. I did drop a few hints this morning when she said she'd pay me tomorrow.

We agreed in the contract to pay me in advance (every Monday), but at the time I never included a late payment fee.

What can I do without seeming rude?

SweetSnowflake · 04/12/2007 13:29

LOL actually did laugh out loud then..FFS, i need to get a life !

KaySamuels · 04/12/2007 13:36

Do an amendment to contract. I have done these in the past to change how I charge for absence and save on filling in a whole contract all over again. Just put in it that all other terms and conditions of contract still remain.

I charge late fee of £5 daily, per contract (always put per contract if you cm siblings), as soon as I started enforcing this parents started paying on time. Well mostly.

  • thought it would, just wanted to cheer you up coz I know how it is trying to help in a rush etc

Bump is fine thanks, just hungry, hungry, hungry all the time

Pre-school mindee played 'Doctor' yesterday but it was more 'Midwife' as spent most of the time checking for baby's heartbeat etc.

SweetSnowflake · 04/12/2007 13:45

Aw bless, get one of those home dopler things!, the kids will love it...have you told all parents now then?, is all ok?and what about dh's job situation?anything?

cheekychaps · 04/12/2007 13:49

Thanks for all your help.

I think I will be more straight with her as she doesn't seem to worry that I need the money.

I didn't realise you could amend the contract - perhaps i'll have a chat to her about and maybe that will make her realise.

ps. Don't worry about the spelling

def speak to her, otherwise she wont bother about it!

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 04/12/2007 13:54

All parents know, everything SEEMS ok now thanks (had scan with a wave and no bleeding since ), I've got a dopler in the loft, unless for baby's heartbeat last time but they'll love hearing my belly make funny noises . Dh is currently working his notice, redundant @ 3rd Jan - so far has one interview lined up but not good time of year Fingers crossed! I've got more work coming in Jan so will have 5 under 5's for certain periods on certain days - that'll keep me busy

SweetSnowflake · 04/12/2007 13:55

are you able to manage all that then? and have the high preists given their blessing?..dont knacker yourself out!
And fingers crossed for your dh

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 04/12/2007 14:02

Yeah, I have 4 anyway so it's just one extra Luckily ds will be at school full time (hence being able to add the 5th) and he was the harder one

Right, I'm off!

SweetSnowflake · 04/12/2007 14:03

Aw good, see you later chick

shoshaliteupthetree · 05/12/2007 07:19

I have standard policy at Christmas, I am paid a month in advance, I ask for a post dated cheque on the last working day before Christmas, which I put into the bank on the 31st.

I give my invoices out on the 20th of the month so on the 16th of November, I give my parents a form, which they fill in with their Christmas holidays.

From that it is easy to work out the December and January Invoices.

All my parents are happy with the arrangement.

And Arggggggggggggggggggggggg please dont look at my spelling and grammer
