Hi all
I have recently discovered I am 8 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child (well pleased by the way!) I am really struggling with the tiredness and especially the school run I do, because the school is not that close and I have to get all the little ones in the car etc etc. I am not planning on telling parents of mindees until the new year, but I am sure they will soon get suspicious because I am KNACKERED!!

Anyway, just after a bit of advice on when any of you worked up to? At the mo, I would like to think I will work right up to the end, but just wanted some opinions.....

Also, in regards to scan/midwife appointments, where do I stand on that, because if I worked in an office for example, I would be entitled to the time off to attend them, but that not may be feasible for parents.

Thanks
Sarah

Sorry can't help with your questions as I started minding when my children were a little older, but just wanted to say congratulations!

You need to get yourself in the staff room! Looney has recently found out she's pg and is going through exactly the same thoughts as you! She's due middle of June, so that's about the same time as you too! come on in, Monday thru Friday anytime, you are most welcome!

I'm due 9th January, and finished last week when I was 33 weeks. I had thought I might go longer, but I was so tired and struggling with SPD. Luckily mindees parents were very understanding and were just led by me. Congratulations btw

Congratulations!

I am also pg (due early March next year) and it's difficult to decide when to stop. My only contracted hours are a mornings only school run which I've said I'll do for as long as possible as I still need to take my own dd to same school! For my ad-hoc mindees (sometimes 2 or 3 full days a week, sometimes only 1 afternoon) I've mentoned stopping at Feb half term (they are term-time only ad hocers anyway) as seems a good point to stop. TBH I could stop now but that might be cos I'm feeling rotten with temperature and cough and cold...thanks to dd who had it last week! How flexible do you think your mindee parents can be?

Re midwife appts and scans etc, I have fitted them in to when not working but know you are entitled to the time off to attend them - is there another cm in your area who the mindee parents would be ok with you taking mindees to for your appts? I did this for a friend cm and it worked out well.

Having said that, I had a 3 yo mindee with me at my 24 week check with midwife (an ad-hoc mindee also daughter of a friend so she agreed for mindee to go with me). Mindees face was a picture when I got pot of wee out for midwife to test!! Mindee told her mummy all about it and how she heat baby heartbeat!!

Congratulations!!

I have 4 under 5's in the afternoon, 3 days a week and I was SOOOOOO tired, I felt like I just wanted to curl up into a ball and die sometimes as from 2/3pm, I was like a zombie!!! I am tired but seem MUCH better (I'm 11 weeks today) and I'm just trying to tell myself that I MUST go to bed at 9ish each night otherwise I'm asking for trouble (difficult when you're used to being up til about midnight lol).

Hopefully your tiredness will pass like mine. I actually am really pleased it's out in the open - my tummy was getting obvious so now I don't have to panic about them guessing! I do have one parent whose very concerned about how I'll cope with carrying her baby now I'm pregnant but the way I see it, if my ds was still young I'd have to and many parents do!

I HAD planned to take 4 weeks off but am re-thinking that now, especially due to this parent whose very worried about me starting back too soon. So, I'm due 23rd June, thinking about finishing couple of weeks before and starting back the first week of September, that's the plan atm anyway!!

One thing I will say........I thought I had it all planned out, wanted to before I told the parents so I could tell them my plans......a week into them all knowing and it's gone from 4 weeks to 3 months off lol! So my advice is not to panic, you can only give an idea at this stage.

As for appointments, I've had 2 extra scans due to bleeding early on and I just took baby with me (mum knew but not what I was going for). I think the next scan I will go to on my own if possible (don't fancy taking a 12 month and her 2 year old sister with me). As for appointments I know the midwife wasn't too keen on me having mindee last time and it was just the one, I'll just play it by ear I think. You'll be entitled to the time off but of course not paid.

You'll be fine

Thanks for the lovely messages - Looneytune, I am glad to hear the tiredness has got better - I certainly don't remember being this knackered last time around!
I am also showing alarmingly (considering I am only 8 wks - in fact I am sat typing this in a pair of maternity jeans - yikes perhaps it's triplets!) so am thankful for the cold days where baggy jumpers are worth their weight in gold! Just want the dating scan now so i can get it out in the open.
(Hope your early problems sorted themselves out!)

Sarah x
