i have a new mindee who is 3yrs old.

started nursery school monday this week, started with me wednesday this week.

couldnt ask for a happier settled little boy here, mum said nursery was fine, but today it was awful, really really upset about going and crying for me, school said he was similar yesterday asking for "My XXX"(ie:me)

his mam has no choice but to carry on with this, how can i help him settle/help her help him settle?

thanks

I have recently had a 3yr old mindee start too, started new nursery tues, started with me wed,she had a few wobbly days too but is fine now.it's just an adjustment really, we were all upbeat about her goin,I tell her she is going to have a paint and a play then I will come and pick her up. She has settled quite well now and gives me a hug and hops to sit down.

Just keep it short and sweet at nursery drop off. What do nursery say? Ours always ask what they like doing and if theyare upset will offer them their favourite activvity to distratc them, they are really lovely.

thanks Kay, i had same with my dd but she was muc younger as she was in private nursery..asked mindee to paint me pic of big red car..he said yes, but was really panicky and 'not listening' when i was going..i personally think short and sweet drop offs, have suggested this in diary to mum to as dont want to discuss infront of him, but its up to her, im sure shell be ahppy to go along though, shes lovely...hes a lovely little boy and settled STARIGHT in here, so maybe a little longer and hell be same there!

I think it is much easier for little ones to settle with us as we ae a home from home, where as a school nursery is a completely different enviroment for them to adjust to and it can be hard for them. Hang on in there, he sounds fab, bet he soon finds his feet.

thanks Kay, just hope the 4 days hes not with me wont upset his routine? and hope the weekend of wont upset him going back to nursery on wed?
think nursery is 'busy' where as my house is only as 'busy' as he wants it as its either just me and him or the two of us and one other till 3pm?

think he'll be fine..hope so
