I think I do live/sleep/eat work. Being a Sunday, today I am caring for a 5 year old and a 2 year old. At least it's a short day, only 10 til 4.

Hi Dmo (what does thst stand for anyway,, I Always think of you as domino )

I was up at 4.00 (which is quite usual) and cutting out card for Christmas angels!

Must be a Childcarer thing

Nick will you stop working EVERYDAY, you need more adult comapny young man (wags finger granny style)

Going to be really nosy, have you a partner, does she mind you working all these hours?

nannynick · 25/11/2007 08:54

No... I don't have the time. When I worked in marketing, I spent quite a bit of time with my then girlfriend (and her son)... but my income was over double what it is now. I know, I'm making excuses, should make more time for a social life.

shoshaliteupthetree · 25/11/2007 08:57

If not you just know we will be looking for one for you

nannynick · 25/11/2007 09:27

Look around for me all you want. I need a good woman (ideally someone earning mega amounts, so I can be a SAHD / Childminder).

MamaG · 25/11/2007 09:31

shoshaliteupthetree · 25/11/2007 11:00

OMG that was the blind (drunk in Mo's case) leading the blind

BoysAreLikeReindeer · 25/11/2007 11:11

Shosha it was painful !

DP could not understand why I was clutching my head and squealing with rage at my computer.

Did the trick in the end. Tee hee

shoshaliteupthetree · 25/11/2007 11:33

dmo, we are having Christmas on 23rd, DGD, DS, DDIL and DF are coming all day, we have always done it this way as DGD spends Christmas Day with her Mum.

Christmas Day DF is happy to spend on his own as he feels like he had Christmas, and will get family phone calls, and DS and DDIL will see him at tea time.

We on the other hand will have taken all the decs down on the 24th, and will head north to Scotland to DH's Family,

Then on the 29th will be heading back down as far as BandofMothers to spend sometime with her, then heading home for a couple of days to ourselves

Then back to work!!!

So have to be pretty organized

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 25/11/2007 12:57

I wasn't that drunk, I'll have you know! It was very funny though. Luckily for me DH was on his computer upstairs, so me giggling out loud was not a problem.

So, you lot have all done your shopping eh? Well, I've done nothing, nada, zilch! AND I don't care either. I like to fly by the seat of my pants. (And then go into a flat spin on about 22nd December!)

Bloody washing machine packed up yesterday, (and none of you comforted me on my thread), so I'm at my mums at the moment doing a couple of loads, whilst dd does her homework. Got to more loads to do, which I'm going to take to Kbears after lunch and the girls can play and we can drink wine tea!

CranberryMartini · 25/11/2007 12:58

Hello everyone! I'm at my parents as our boiler has broken down and they wouldn't get anyone out til tomorrow (from 8am to 6pm - how helpful!). Anyhow I've told parents of mindees and they are ok with having no heating or hot water for a few hours - and I've got a couple of stand-alone heaters.

Do you think this is ok? I know Ofsted would make a school close in this situation but as it's only for a few hours (hopefully) then surely it's ok? Would they give me a black mark if they found out?

Both mindees are at preschool in the morning and we'd go somewhere warm in the afternoon. DH is home for the day so we don't have to hang around in a cold house. What do you think?

TIA and hope your houses are warmer than mine!

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 25/11/2007 13:03

I think what Ofsted don't know, doesn't matter. If the parents are fine about it, then thats all the authority you need. ITs only a couple of hours after all.

CranberryMartini · 25/11/2007 13:04

Thanks Mo!

shoshaliteupthetree · 25/11/2007 13:08

No drunk she says hah!

martini, mindees are not goingto be there much if a preschool and out in the afternoon, and parents are ok with it so dont worry

Hennipenniinapeartree · 25/11/2007 13:11

Cranberry, I agree with Mo, what they don't know won't hurt. I was in similar situationa few weeks back when the gas board renewed the pipes to our house so was left without heating and hot water, parents were fine, had standalone heaters which I kept out of mindees way and an extra warm jumper from parents for mindees.

Kiddi · 25/11/2007 13:57

Afternoon, anyone care to read my little thread. Just curious how you more verbal crew feel, if you dont mind.
doubly cheeky I dont know how to link a thread, so its the one about childminders being treated like babysitters or worse?
No children this pm but as I have spent all day sorting my DD room(nearly 5) I am drunk with, pink and glitter overload! though we do know have space for all the special xmas pink presents to be added in a few weeks!

MamaG · 25/11/2007 17:52

shosh what is a DF?

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 25/11/2007 20:00

Dear Father I believe.

nannynick · 25/11/2007 22:32

My day got worse, was asked to work this evening, so only got home 20 mins ago. I really must learn to say NO!
