Children you care for when under 8, contacting you again when they are teens

I had an email today from a 15 year old, who thought that I cared for her when she was 3. Looked it up and I cared for her when she was 6.
It's not often that I'm contacted by someone who I have cared for in the past... so it was quite interesting to get the e-mail.

Have any children you used to care for, contact you again many years later?

Yes one was quite frightening actually, I cared for her when she was 3 till she was 6, some years later she came to see me,

to ask me to childmind her 3 year old

where did the years go!!!!!!

And yes I did have her daughter as well

Nick - I don't want to be negative or presumptive - so please take this as being said with your best interests at heart

Make sure her mum knows she emailed you, esp if you start to 'chat' also only meet up if you know you are going to be safe

I'm sure you have considered this problem and would automatically be careful & I feel guilty for mentioning it - but I used to be a 15yo girl

well, not quite the same thing, but we are still in touch with our nanny. she started work for my mom when mom was pregnant with me. she is about eighty now. and very much a memebr of the family. she comes and goes, staying at various of her own childrens housese, and my parents, and my aunts moving on as and when the mood suits her.
whenever i visit my parents, who live abroad, she comes and sees me. i always give her some money in the same way that i would my parents. ( well, not quite, she doesnt ahve a bank account,s o cant really direct debit!)

Katy - don't panic, I have no intention of meeting her... I don't even remember her.

S'OK Nick - I didn't think you would - I just wanted you to think first....just in case

BeautifulBoysGalore · 13/11/2007 21:51

you dont even remember her??

nannynick · 13/11/2007 21:54

No, it was someone I babysat, one of a lot back then. Not someone I remember, so doubt it was someone I babysat very often.

I still see all the children I have minded. Only 2 have made it to being teenagers so far. One is 15 in a few weeks. I can't shake her off, she still comes round sometimes. Especially when she's forgotten her keys! She refers to me as auntie now, not cm.
