Are you sending your nannies home?

I know she's allowed to work and she's happy to come, but it doesn't really feel right. It's childcare but it's also mixing households. We'd keep her on full pay as per the first lockdown. Or am I over-reacting and everyone else's nannies will keep coming in?

SmidgenofaPigeon I completely agree with your post , Iv seen so many posts on various sites about having their nanny move in for lockdown , bubbling with work , asking nanny to do extra hours etc etc and it blows my mind that majority of people think nannys have no life out
Of work ..

I’m a self employed nanny abd 26 weeks pregnant and have decided I’m not going in this time round .. I use public transport and the children are still attending school & nursery on my off days so there is more risk ..

If your nanny if happy to work OP then fair do’s xx

@Confusedlottie yes! I saw many posts like that too and my Christ it annoyed me (OP I’m not lumping you in with any of this by the way!)
So many ‘can’t you ask nanny to move in for three months?’ Type posts or ‘you should ask your nanny to stay in on her weekends and not see anyone or go to the shop’ that’s ridiculous. We are not enslaved to our families. As a nanny I DO do a lot of extra hours, weekend work, and coming in early or staying late as being flexible is part and parcel but this has to be pre-arranged, paid accordingly and I will not have that expected or taken for granted.

Sounds sensible for you to stay at home this time round x

Also if this had all happened when I was single and living alone no chance I’d have bubbled with my work family. Obviously I’d want to bubble with one of my friends!

Out of interest, are people changing their minds now they're saying the lockdown needs to be stricter? Or does everyone feel the same?

I’m a nanny, happy to work. Have my own family but would be bored at home. Feel safe at work as my employers are only going to supermarket and children or at school.
But please please don’t anyone else mention nannies and bubbles in same sentence.
Nannies are at work because they can’t work from home. They ARE not in a bubble with their employers!

Children are not at school

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/01/2021 17:52

Lockdown does need to be stricter but nannies can still work as can’t work from home

All the exercise abs people meeting up needs to stop
