Telling a parent that I don't care if she is going on holiday she pays for her child's place anyway....IT'S IN THE CONTRACT

It's an email & I need to reply now

Under your contractual obligations, payment is due regardless of if your child physically attends on not.
Failure to pay will be considered breach of contract and your childcare place will be terminated. If your childcare place is terminated, legal proceedings will be commenced to recover payment in lieu of notice, as per your contractual obligations.

Will that do... not sure it's legal, but doubt parent would know either.

Actually I was thinking of something a little 'fluffier'

"Unfortunately, if you check the NCMA contract, on the 2nd page you will see that any time off due to your holiday is paid (marked "full fee"). The reason is that if I were to 'sell' that space to anyone else, it would not be there when you got back from holiday as the other child would then be using it. If you want to ring or visit to chat about it feel free."

Is that polite?

fluffy... I don't do fluffy

Your fluffier version is much more polite than mine.

PanicPants · 25/10/2007 16:04

As a parent I would prefer the fluffier one! I suppose it depends on your relationship with the parents.

I sent it - hope it goes OK

I had an eamil "we're going away for a fortnight, so I don't ned to pay do I?"

So it's hard to write something polite but that expalins the situation, You pay for 50 weeks of the year whether or not you use them (iyswim)

I have 2 weeks unpaid, & up to 2 weeks paid (tho I have only used 1.5 days paid leave in the last 4 yrs)

All sorted thank goodness

I hate talking about mix-ups with money

I always feel so guilty - silly isn't it like I have no right to make any money

Glad its sorted out Katymac. I've wasted hours composing emails in an attempt to stick to my guns without offending/upsetting the parent when all they've done is sent me a short query.

Love the "shit sandwich" description lennygirl, kind of what I try to do but haven't heard it described that way!
