Thought I'd start this to keep the other thread for proper feedback

Right.....I'm knackered....I've set up a group on Facebook here and have searched for Childminder, Childcare groups etc....even came across one for parents who use childcare. I've basically posted on LOADS of group walls and asked them to come and join us....not sure if it will do the trick but thought it was worth a try!

Now....how do we proceed? Obviously this will be sent to OFSTED and I'd like to do a strong covering letter to put with it and request a reply. I don't want my name to be known with them so was THINKING about seeing if my dad would be a ???? (mush for brains can't think of the word I want) and have his details for them to reply back.

So....who else do we contact? Local MP's were mentioned....I'm happy to send to mine. But how do we get lots of MP's round the country covered???

Also, other suggestions???

My brother recommended contacting local newspapers, radio stations etc - get the story out there - we all feel strongly, what do you think????

Off to play battleships with little'un as my eyes have gone funny from all this

Would love to hear all suggestions!

Thanks

Thanks for your comments And at that childminder with 'unchanged nappies, unwiped noses and were sitting on the floor watching a video eating chicken nuggets, chips and ketchup with a packet of haribo out on the coffee table' It's people like this that give the rest of us a bad name!!!

Oh no.......have all the photo's gone from the group??? Can someone check it's not just me that can't see them? I reckon it's coz I left the group and rejoined (long story, had reason why). Oh well.....if they're gone I'll just have to do them again! I liked my p*ss take pictures!!

I think that little slogan on the Ofsted Facebook page about "we're awesome and we own you" would make for a very interesting headline for a journalists feature in a national newspaper on the over-regulation of childcare...

Can you take some journalistic advice on here?

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 22/10/2007 15:12

Good point, I was disgusted in that I must say (but thought it was my hormones taking over! ). I will have to put a thread out to see what a journalist would think of that - yes, sounds like a FAB headline doesn't it!!

I'm currently doing the course to become a childminder and have been reading your comments on Ofsted with great interest (and much trepidation!!) I have a journalist friend who may be interested in this story about Ofsted on a power trip as she is also a Mum and covers this sort of thing. She's on her hols at the moment but will be back in a week or so and I would be more than happy to speak to her about it then if that's any help?

Kiddi · 23/10/2007 18:11

Just read a bit of the thread re Ofsted and Ba nd Q, some of my proudest photos of my 3.5 year olds are after a trip to B and Q to but themselves a small electric screwdriver, use with their already owned hammer to construct a small bedside table like unit with drawers, long with the photos or thier partly and fully constructed cupboard. SOLELY constructed by themselves, though I did get the pleasure of holding the nail for them to hammer the backboard on with. and I would quite happily arguing tooth and nail with Ofsted that as well as all the motor skills issue, following picture instructions, self esteem and the like, that life skills learnt early builds a better future for all concerned.

I've spoken to my friend as she's not gone away yet and she said she'll look into it and let me know
