Anyone got a spare au-pair? This way, please....

I have just been promoted which means not only am I even more smug and unbearable than usual today, but also I have realised that I will be doing a fair number of early morning starts because I will need to spend lots of time in very boring exciting Luxembourg.

We have a fab nanny who lives locally but will now need an au-pair on top to help with wrap-around care for those early mornings when I have to go to boring exciting Luxembourg. It would be great for the nanny to have the au-pair around as well to help out now and then and help with stuff like swimming trips.

The job starts in January, but, having seen the ironing pile this morning, we are very flexible on any start date between now and then.....

If you know of anyone please let me know...we live in deepest Kent so need a driver who likes living in the country. We are sort of nice, when we're not being horrible, and have a 4YO DS and 1YO DD...

Hi

I have a very close single mother friend living in Germany now who used to be my nanny 8 years ago who is looking for a live in position but she has an 18m old DD who is the sweetest child you have ever seen. She would be happy on a lowish au pair type salary in return for accommodation for herself and daughter.

She is absolutely amazing with children and I can't recommend her highly enough. We used to fly her over from Germany to babysit when we had to go away on business after she left us. She is also a qualified child social worker who has had sole charge of a children's home including babies etc.

She's 27, drives, is also a qualified dance teacher and very reliable and fantastic with children. And she would like to live in Kent as so do we!

Let me know if anyone is interested.

I would really love to know you manage to fit it all together - what are the pitfalls to watch out for? The last thing I want to do is undermine my current nanny who I love to pieces (6 hours down the woods with the kids yesterday), but on the other hand I know that the current nanny may be moving away next Easter to live with her BF so I am angling to take on someone who can potentially take on more some time in the future (without threatening current nanny) - it all seems to be a minefield...and that's without starting the sift through people on the websites...

alexandre - DH was working late so we haven't discussed your friend in depth -we had a quick catch-up as we did our teeth this morning - I will talk to him tonight...

Hi Squiffy

Sorry I completely forgot about my post being the usual chaotic half term etc. If you're interested let me know.

Squiffy · 25/10/2007 09:46

Alexandre, have tried to cat you but you're not cat-able so could you please contact me on [email protected] so I can send you a mail - I warn you though that is my home email not office, so I won't be able to send anything until tonight at the earliest.

lisalisa - I am still sitting up with tail wagging and begging (with occasional cock of leg and sniff of nether parts)...
