Hi Its DD birthday week after next, and I'm stuck what to do. Dont really want to hold a party in the house as we have only just moved in, and the house is a bloody mess!

She has suggested going to the cinema with 5 friend, but I think they are a bit young to be doing that?

Have tried booking the community centre (£200 - bit pricey, also fully booked!)

Any suggestion please?

Bowling with just two friends, burger and chips after (It is allowed on birthdays )

My 5 year old mindee went and loved it, they have a thing that helps them bowl the ball (dont know how to describe it)

It was great fun and then we came later and brought her cake.

Remind me where you are?

meg, was it bunper bowling where the put a long bumper down where the gutter is so gets bounced back and forth rather than landing in the gutter?

Not sure what it is called here. It is "bumper bowling" in the states.

eleusis · 12/10/2007 12:38

not bunper
bumper

why not take 2-3 friends to:
a soft play area
bowling
sealife centre
kids club at the cinema
swimming

Oh, I know very little about Cardiff. What are your options for local soft playor other kiddie type places that sponsor birthday parties.

For what it's worth I think 5 is old enough for a movie. My DD 4 like to go to the movie with me. She will sit through some, and not others. I think bright colours and animation (like Shrek) are better at keeoing her attention than the non-animated (like Charlotte's web).
