Well Saz, we've chatted about this and I just can't believe this woman. I'm also very annoyed that she'd dare make you feel bad for having more kids - she knows what she pays for her dd to go 2 days a week - does she really think that's enough to live on??!!! FFS!! As for the CP....it will be very interesting to see if that other baby gets it - how will she explain that!!!

Saz73 · 12/10/2007 09:56

Oh Looney, if the 12 mth mindee gets it his mum will not be happy with me, you'd hear her shouting from where you live.

Oh by the way told you she wants me extra day but also wants me an extra hour a day too. Think someone is now looking down on me from above

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 12/10/2007 10:04

This is what's so unfair, one parents puts you in this position and then you get the grief

RubberGloves · 12/10/2007 10:14

Good morning ladies. I'm hoping you can help me out here, you always seem a reasonable bunch in here and I'm hoping for a quick response. Sorry for gatecrashing the staff room!

I work full time and CM looks after my twin DDs, aged 2. They both go to nursery in the mornings. I feel p!ssed off TBH that I have to PAY her for the time they are at nursery! How is that fair? Is this normal practice, to charge for sitting at home drinking coffee and watching This Morning?! Also, I send my own food for my DDs to eat and then find out on collection that they've been eating things provided by my CM as well! I want to know what MY children are eating, which is why I send my own food! I'm not sure CM always buys organic.

Anyway, your perspective would be much appreciated.

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 12/10/2007 10:30

Rubbergloves - I've been off this week so I've probably got more time to reply to you. I'm afraid you're not going to like this........it's VERY NORMAL for us CMs to charge for this time. YOU CHOOSE to send your children to nursery in the morning (presuming this is like pre-school and not day care?). The reason we charge is that it would be pretty IMPOSSIBLE to get any other business to fill those hours. Does she take them to nursery? Is she on call?

As for the food - did you tell her from the start that you ONLY want them eating your food? If so then she's wrong and you need to remind her

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 12/10/2007 10:31

meant to say that not all of us drink coffee and watch this morning, i wish, HOWEVER if she has no kids then I don't see the problem. I bet she doesn't charge anyone for the endless paperwork/courses she does in her own time.

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 12/10/2007 10:37

Just about to pop in the shower but if she does NOT take them to nursery and is NOT on call then it wouldn't be QUITE as acceptable to charge but it depends on the hours you have her? With me, I explain that I can't afford to take children for part of a day and they are welcome to look for another minder, unfortunately I very much need to receive a full time income and I could easily full the whole day so of course would have to go for the better option financially.

hennipenni · 12/10/2007 10:38

Rubbergloves, I'm afraid it is standard accepted practise to charge whilst mindees are at nursery, this is because we can't "sell" that time (2.5 hrs? I'm guessing although at two aren't they too young to go to state nursery?). Your CM has to keep that space open so she can accomodate your DDs during school holidays, inset days, unexpected closures etc. Otherwise you would have to find alternative care for those hours during those situations.

As for sitting watching TV, she is most likely catching up on paperwork, planning, clearing up messes that inevitably occur through childminding, cleaning toys etc etc etc. (unless she's ulta organised and does it at the week-end or evening!

hennipenni · 12/10/2007 10:38

Looney, you type quicker than me!

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 12/10/2007 10:39

henni - You ok? What's the latest?

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 12/10/2007 10:40
Grin
hennipenni · 12/10/2007 10:42

Still awaiting test results, saw her this morning at school, ran over gave me a big hug and said "I wanna go to your house!" She had to stay with her Grandparents tho' as
she's still not 100%.

Thanks for asking, it means alot and I'm still pretty worried!

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 12/10/2007 10:44

I'm not surprised you're worried, poor you, I'd be in a right state. no one really thinks it's you though surely?

I'm off for that shower now and then ds wants to make a kennel so need to check the junk modelling stuff (we used loads yesterday so not sure what's left). Willc check back a bit later

hennipenni · 12/10/2007 10:48

No, nobody has said or blamed me, I just get very paraniod about things like this. I know that out of her 3 meals aday she only has one with me, never ever touches meat and all the cheese/milk products she has are pastuerised.

RubberGloves · 12/10/2007 11:35

Aw Loooney! I was trying to "get" Mo and shosha by way of revenge for them getting you yesterday and I got you! Sorry sorry, I was going to go on at them about how they sit around all day

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 12/10/2007 11:47

Oh....that's SOOOOO fucking funny I was going to do a harsh reply because of the 'sitting around drinking coffee' but it's not like me to do that lol. Sorry I messed your plan up I'm in here a lot more this week due to being closed and VERY bored

MamaG · 12/10/2007 12:05
dmo · 12/10/2007 12:16

not great SAZ for you is it
it really gets me when parents pretend to take their child to the doctors or cover up the truth
i had a child with sore cheeks parents said they had been to the docs and it was exema but it wasnt it was inpertago

SORRY ALL I'M SO RUBISH AT SPELLING

Megsdaughter · 12/10/2007 12:29

hrumphhhhhhh

I dont know why you would think Maureen and I would sit around all day drinking coffee???

(well in Mo's case it would be wine)

I am far to dedicated and professional

MaureenMLove · 12/10/2007 12:56

Ah, didn't it work, did it? I've been busy doing cm duties all morning! Drinking coffee indeed - never! You notice that neither me or Meg have been here all morning - its the rest of 'em!

So, whats happening with this parent of the CP child SAZ? She sounds like a complete PITA.

Do you think we could arrange some assertiveness classes? Some of us, including me, seem to be complete wusses lately, when it comes to telling parents how it is!

MaureenMLove · 12/10/2007 13:00

Do you really wear an apron Meg? You sound just like Mary Poppins...... which brings me to another Mo & Kbear night out! She had a fancy dress party for her 30th and I went as Mary Poppins, but dd was very little at the time, so I hadn't got my drinking head back on and I drunk probably 3/4 of bottle of gin and at the end her brother sat me in the middle of the hall slumped in a chair, hat squew wiff, swinging my umbrella! Oh, we got chucked out of the cab too, because I needed to be sick!

Megsdaughter · 12/10/2007 13:03

hEHe only ever drunk gin once, I was sooooooooooooooooo sick, I stuck to the whisky.

And yes I do wear a apron, a bright red one

4hr 56 mins till last mindee goes home, not that I'm really counting.

Looney you keep falling for these pranks

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 12/10/2007 13:07

I'm so not with it this week am I - the cabin fever has well and truly got to me

Just put dinner in the slow cooker and it's made me hungry so off to make some lunch.

Saz73 · 12/10/2007 13:15

Looney will tell you i've got 'mug' tattooed on my fore head when it comes to mindees parents. Not sure how to approach it as I feel bad going behind her back seeing the chemist.

We defo need a assertiveness course, my DH keeps telling me to be more assertive and he's the worst for taking the piss mick can't say no to him either
