PAYE company recommendations?

Hi all,

This is our first time employing a nanny, and she will be with us for around 1 year until our youngest starts school next September.

There seem to be a lot of companies that will run PAYE for a nanny, and I am keen to use one. I have decided to sort the pension myself and have a reasonable contract drafted, so I am really looking for just the HMRC and PAYE bits.

Nannytax seems a popular one, but seems very pricey. I have also seen paymynanny.net, nannywageltd.co.uk, payefornannies.co.uk, nannypaye.co.uk...

As far as I can tell they offer the same basic PAYE service.
Any recommendations?

Many thanks!

NannyPaye will offer a service of doing just the payslips, quarterly returns and reporting to HMRC. You would need to discuss the pension side of it as the pension figures should be on the payslip, so they may need to do the calculation and then you do the actual integration/payment with your chosen pension provider.

They all provide the same basic service but then have various added on parts, such as providing a contract of employment within the annual fee. Some will charge per time for a leaver, others will include unlimited number of leavers/starters during the year. Some will do month-to-month payroll (Zest Payroll comes to mind there) while others will do an annual minimum or a 6 month minimum and some will allow unused months to roll over and some won't.

You could use payroll software yourself and do the payslips yourself. BrightPay I think has a Micro Employer option which is quite low cost. Depends how much you want to learn how to do things and how much time you want to spend - plus how much you want to talk to HMRC when things don't go to plan!

Thank you for all the info, I am going to make some calls today to two providers with a few questions.

I will aim to post back here with my findings for others' use.

I called PAYE for Nannies and could only leave a message. They still haven't called back after over 24 hours.
I called Pay My Nanny .net and they answered quickly and were really helpful in answering my questions. So I have gone with them.

I'll update on here once I know if they are any good or not :)
