When to request reduced hours from work (currently on mat leave)

Morning all,

Does anyone know when you should request a reduction in hours from your employer for your RTW following maternity leave?

I'm trying to ring round nurseries for a place from May for my little one, but I'm hoping to reduce to 4 days from work (NHS). Not sure when I should have that convo with work though?

Any ideas/experiences?

I had to put my request in 12 weeks before I wanted my new hours to start to give them time to look at whether it was possible. Perhaps check your flexible working policy?
