Not planning on going anywhere except school run's, got 2x 2 yr old's. Any tips on how to survive the day without making my throat any worse? (i'm already taking everything I can for it)

Dp has opted to go to work despite feeling the same as me because he said he knows he won't get any rest at home - true!

Aw, hope you're feeling a bit better than you did at the end of last week. I take it you did take the day off on Friday afterall?
I'd get loads of toys out and let them play by themselves. It won't kill 'em, to have a bit of free play. I thik sometimes we interfer too much, so just sit a watch.

Have you tried gurggling with TCP btw? Tis very effective.

Katymac · 24/09/2007 08:24

I melt butter & marshmallows - then lick it off a spoon - it really coats your throat

NappiesGalore · 24/09/2007 08:24

you could gargle with soluble aspirin, then swallow. the longer you gergle it the better, coz then its right on the site of the pain...
other than tat, i know nothing about CM so ill butt out now!
good luck, you have my sympathy.

LoveMyGirls · 24/09/2007 08:32

Hvane't got any TCP, can't stand the smell. I have gargled, apsin, taken paracetamol, ultra chlorasceptic, strepsils, bongella (for the 3 ulcers i have 1 of which is on my tonsil!) oraldene and normal antisceptic mouthwash.

And it STILL REALLY HURTS!!

I didnt work friday (did say something on the fri staff room i htink) I was in no state, didnt even take dd1 to school.

aw, you should be in bed. i spose thats wishful thinking tho?

mumlove · 24/09/2007 09:19

A trip to the drs I think.

LoveMyGirls · 24/09/2007 09:20

I took friday off, i definately cannot afford to take today off though I did say if mindee really played up then i may consider sending home as I am not really up to dealing with really bad behaviour but so far so good, they are both playing really well and will go down for a nap after lunch so i should hopefully be ok and i can go to bed at 7pm.

Sorry to hear you are still feeling poorly LMG.
I have worked with no voice a few times while cm'ing, I often lose my voice if I get even a old! I text the parents in advance to tell them I had no voice, and did lots of actions to the kids, which they found amusing but quickly adapted to!
I also wrote 'I have a very sore throat' on a piece of card and put it in my pocket, to brandish at any one wanting to talk to me! Take it easy, hope you feel better soon.
K x

LoveMyGirls · 24/09/2007 09:24

I can talk I'm just finding it very hard because of the pain and swallowing is really painful and the ulcers are no fun either. I feel very tired but i think that's from when i was really bad thu/fri I've had plenty of sleep though.

sounds horrible

ayla99 · 24/09/2007 11:39

Probably a common ailment in our profession, having to use our voices all day; reading stories, answering questions, singing songs etc.

Squeeze a lemon, add generous tablespoons of runny honey & hot water. DH would add sugar but I don't find it necessary.

Hope you feel better soon.

LoveMyGirls · 24/09/2007 13:29

Ending up sending ft mindee home, he had a really runny poo (not sure if diahorea) it was everywhere all over the sofa, carpet, cushions etc i had no spare clothes for him and just thought enough is enough. I could cope with "normal" routine but trying to stop 2 x 2 yr olds from prodding it etc while cleaning it up and cleaning mindee was all abit much for my poorly head this morning. I'm still working this afternoon got to pick another mindee up at 3pm but only got her til 5.30ish so i'll do something simple for dinner.

Have a i done the right thing? What would you charge? Would you work tomorrow?

OP posts:
MaureenMLove · 24/09/2007 13:35

Did you ell the parents you were sending him home because he wasn't well or you? If it was because he wasn't well, I'd charge full price. If it was because you're not well, maybe you could charge just for the morning. I really think you need to rest up for a few more days. You're clearly not the full ticket. I know its a money thing, but I think your health is more important. It'll take much longer to get better if you don't.

LoveMyGirls · 24/09/2007 13:38

He seemed well in himself, he ate his dinner (which is more than he ususally does) but he never has runny poo so i have no idea if he was ill or not in the end i sent home because if he was ill i (in my ill state) did not want to be cleaning sick off everything as well) I'm thinking of charging half day as i did work it and she has had to half half day without much notice. No idea what to do about tomorrow though. Maybe I should go to the docs so i can actually know what is wrong. Dp has had the same though and he's working so i feel i should work too.

Have phoned mindees parents for this afternoon and said I will go to the docs this afternoon as i may need AB's (possible tonsilitus???) and that if they are happy for me to have her still then i am happy to take her with me to the doctors at least then i will know whats going on. I havent got time to go to gp's before i pick up as dd2 is still sleeping.

OP posts:
LoveMyGirls · 24/09/2007 18:44

Mindee was picked up at 5pm so i went to the docs, i now have some anti b's and some strong ulcer stuff so will hopefully be feeling much better very soon!

Going to ring mindee's mum soon to find out if he has come down with d & v or not.
