I'm wondering how much time you plan to have off at christmas, also when do you count your hols from?

Say i start mine in jan - jan, but my mindee's didnt start until after may, does it make a difference?

Say I had a wk in june, 1 wk in aug, 1 wk at xmas and 1 wk in feb and 1 week in may would the family think i was having mroe than my 4wks per yr? I egt half pay for my hols. I only have hols in week blocks if i need the odd day off i have it without charging.

How do you work yours?

At half fees I take off Christmas eve until New Years day also Good Friday, easter monday + 4 days at easter. I don't charge for any other time I have off at the moment and there's no set maximum number of weeks specified on my contracts.

If you've specified 4 weeks in your contract you shouldn't charge for the 5th & any subsequent weeks. If a mindee starts half way thru year you could do a shorter contract to be reviewed at end of year (with holiday reduced appropriately) so that when you renew the contract they'll be in line with everyone else.

I know we chatted earlier but before I go out again.........

If you do invoices each week/month then it's fine and I personally would just take the 4 weeks during the year, regardless of when people started. HOWEVER, if you do what I do and have some parents paying set amount each month, you need to work out how many days you are entitled to per month, work out what that makes the remaining year's entitlement if people started part way through the year. It doesn't mean you don't have your 4 weeks but it means you need to work out if you owe them a refund. I'm about to refund someone for a couple of days.

Sorry that's rushed, gotta leave now but be around later if that didn't make sense

my hols got put upto 23 days this year
i take 5 days at easter (always off good friday and easter monday then i work the rest of the week and have the full week off after)
i take 9 days in the summer (always away on the bank holiday so only use 9 days)
i take 5 days in october half term
and then use 4 days at christmas which this year will be 24th dec, 27th dec, 28th dec and 31st dec so i will be back to work on the 2nd Jan

I can't help much I'm afraid, because all mine are part time, so I generally work any holidays I need around them. This year, however, I'm going to come unstuck because I've got Jury Service starting on 17th December, haven't I?

I take 30 days from April-April so I only have one week left , but I don't take any hols over xmas as RAF everyone finishes on 20th (or there about) and we both take 'hols' but not so get from 20th-4th Jan off but not taken off hols, I don't do any favours either for them to do their xmas shopping!

God help when we I move to real life street eh

Ohh I also have a list of hols that I've taken in the back of daily diary (both ways, childminder or parent to keep on track)
