Settling in/childminder

I'm due to go back to work in May, my youngest is due to start her settling in sessions with the childminder next week.

I'm dreading it, I thought I'd be fine, this is dd3 and I've done it twice before. I have been fortunate enough to be with her for 14 months.

Tell me it will be ok! :(

Are you in the UK?

Childminders are closed as well as schools.

bobbityboop · 16/04/2020 01:26

Unless you are a key worker.

LifeIsAPotato · 16/04/2020 01:51

I am a key worker.

It will be ok! You can do this! Yes you know there will be tears but within a week or so she will be happy and settled and you will be in a new routine.

And thank you for what you are doing.

It is so hard as a parent. I am sure your childminder will send you loads of photos all day long. I am sure the childminder will give your child lots of comfort, cuddles, stories and songs if your wee one does get upset.

oh and it doesn't matter that this is your third child. You still get upset when they first start childcare. I am a childminder with 4 children of my own and I got upset every time each one started with a child care provider.

It will be ok May be free settling issues. Or may be fine

Will she be with her siblings Before / after school ? Usually

And who will be having them during corona ?

LifeIsAPotato · 09/05/2020 06:47

Thank you everyone, I delayed my return to work until June due to CV and school closures for my eldest 2 DC.

She will be with her siblings before and after school, so that will be nice, might not send in my nursery child to school and leave her with the CM too. So difficult to know what to do in these uncertain times.

Thank you all for your support. Settling will start this week again.
