Funding. Have I done it correctly?

I have got the funding code to give to the childminder. I am not in employment yet but I will be next month (starting a new job that has been offered to me and already have a start date).

Do they usually give you the code before you start a new job? I'm hoping it is OK. It says anything wrong means I have to repay them.

Ps: you can tell I've got major anxiety already over this!

You should not have a problem if you have a code and all the information you gave was accurate.

Childcare providers are required to run a couple of additional checks too: I suspect this is because of some mistakes HMRC were making in the issuing of codes when the 30 hour scheme first began.

Your childminder needs the code, your name, your NI number, confirmation of the hours claimed (there’s probably an official local authority form for this) and a copy of the child’s birth certificate, together with your signed consent to run the check. S/he can then run an online validity check through the childcare providers' portal system.

I'm a childminder who offers funding.

Our local authority sends a form for us to give to parents to complete. It asks for the child's details (name, address, dob etc) the parents details (NI No, date of birth, address, full name) and the code. We also completed how many hours funding is being claimed, how many hours overall and you sign to say that if you are not eligible then you will pay the fees.

I then put all this onto our funding portal which tells me yes or no for the code. I always do this well in advance so I can speak to the parents if there are any issues.

I'm happy to send you a few screenshots of the form so you know the kind of information needed.

Also, you can go onto your childcare choices account and check / reverify your code.
