Do you have a business card?

I'm thinking of getting some cards done and wondered whether it's worth it. Do you have a business card and who have you given it to? I'm thinking handing them out in local parks is not really appropriate...

Yes - loads to people in the q at tescos, mums at school, people at dancing, people at fetes/faires/parties

Umm anyone I talk to really & everytime I give my phone no to anyone I say "here it's on a card"

PinkChick · 14/08/2007 21:35

get them free for postage from vistaprint.co.uk

FeelingOld · 14/08/2007 21:37

I have some from vistaprint.
Sometimes at places such as toddler group or in the playground someone can approach you with 'you are a childminder aren't you, my friend is looking for one, can I have your number to pass on' and I give them a card cos I usually have one in my car, purse etc. Its much easier than trying to tell them your mobile number (can never remember it) and its handy when no pen and paper is available. My mum has some of my cards too and so does the playgroup I pick up from.

I make my own

FeelingOld · 14/08/2007 21:43

Very resourceful Katy, see I am just too lazy to make my own

I got some really good ones done off ebay by clownfish. Really good value and I leave a stack off them at the local hotels for out of town guests to book me for weekend work

Yes, remind me on Friday and I'll show you. I made my own but I reckon it's not worth the pain of doing them as the card/ink etc. is probably more expensive than like vistaprint. One of my website customers wanting business cards so I uploaded the logo and designed one but instead of me printing them, I'd designed it on vistaprint and they posted them out to her. Wish I could have seen one but she was delighted at the quality etc so very soon I'm doing my own on vistaprint. Definitely worth having some imo

Cool thanks - have just ordered some from Vistaprint. It was so hard to avoid all their other offers! Might go back there when I actually start earning .

just to highjack this thread.......

please be careful with vistaprint. i ordered some cards from them and about a month later, i noticed £10 a month going out from my account. Vistaprint said i signed up for something but i know i didn't.

They did give me a full refund but if you google "vistaprint" or "vistaprint scam", you will find that I wasn't the only one.

looneytune · 16/08/2007 17:03

Interesting.....thanks for sharing that!

I got done with that scam, when I phoned them up they said I had signed up to some loyalty scheme. I'm one of these people that do read the small print several times but I don't remember reading anything about a loyalty scheme.

They did refund me in the end but it took alot of phone calls to actually get throught to them too.
