I'm meeting the children!

Hi everyone!
I have been invited to a second interview to meet the children. They are a toddler and a baby.
I'm thinking of taking some books along about stuff parents have mentioned they like. I may also make some glittery sensory bottles!
Does anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks in advance!!

Tbh our nanny came for a second interview and meet the kids and just said to them ‘have you got a favourite toy you would like to show me?’ And let them run and get something

It isn’t going to be a full on give it all you got session under scrutiny surely? Good nannies know that kids can take time to build trust and rapport.

That said the book about stuff they like idea is lovely but maybe leave it at that.

I've never taken any toys/books with me, it's a good ice breaker to ask them to show you their favourites. Go dressed in comfy clothes that you can sit on the floor in. Usually the parents will find an excuse to leave you alone with the kids (but keep an eye on you!). I usually find meeting the children the easier part of the interview process.

It’s a lovely idea to bring a book about an expressed interest. It shows you paid attention and that you’re switched on to supporting the child’s likes.

Mostly what I wanted from our nanny (other than competence) was someone who liked my children for who they were, listened to them, made them feel safe, and brought her/his own imagination/experiences to enrich their growth.

We only had her for 11 months, but Nanny Nicky is still a legend in our household.

Enjoy your time meeting the children.

Seems some of my local agencies now say you need to take an activity for 2nd interview

A book or some stickers sounds fun

A book about their interests is a really lovely idea. You sound very thoughtful and I'm sure will be lucky to have you!
