Pay for weekend babysitting/proxy parenting for live-in nanny

Hi, I am working on a contract for our new live-in nanny. What is typical for weekend babysitting for a live-in nanny? For example, if we were away from Friday end of day (when she would usually finish), until Sunday night.. of course all arranged well in advance etc. How would this be charged for? Is it usually a flat rate for 24 hours, hourly, or with some combination? Any advice welcome!! Thanks!

There is no norm. If you were to get someone else in to do it, then they would want paying the entire time. There may be a higher rate during daytime than evening such as £14 during day and £10 overnight, so there might be an agreed rate per 24-hour period or it may just be done on an hourly basis.

With your nanny being live-in, does that make a difference... not really as their time at weekends is their own, they get accommodation but so would someone came in separately to do the Fri evening to Sunday evening.

Has your nanny suggested any figure they would want paying for doing Fri eve to Sun eve?

Thanks for your reply. I’m not really sure that I would treat it differently but just want to know if there was a convention. As live-in nanny salaries are lower than live-out, I wasn’t sure if the same applied to overtime at weekends. I think overtime we would offer a similar rate to live-out but not sure about overnight.. I will ask her what she would expect but want to know what is market first if possible.
