15 hours for 3 & 4 year olds

Dd2 is starting nursery in Sept. Am I right in thinking that for the normal 15 hours that all 3&4 year olds are entitled to, that you don't need to apply for a code? When DD1 started nursery over 4 years ago we just signed a form so the nursery could make the claim for the hours. I can't find any convulsive information that says what the process is now. When I went on childcare choices I just kept going round in circles.

No, you don’t need a code for the 15 hours. You will need to prove that they are the correct age for it.

Thank you that's really helpful. I definitely saw something online that said to apply for a code for 15 hours but then couldn't find any way to apply.

You need a code for the 30 hours. You apply on the HMRC website

www.gov.uk/get-tax-free-childcare

If you follow the link you can do tax free childcare and the 30 hours codes.

No code is required for the 15 hours
You probably saw something about the additional 15 hours, which is how it is sometimes referred to
