A few ideas to pass some days:

get 9 yr old to make a scrap book/diary of their own choice.

Make pizzas

give 1 yr old a dustpan brush and a bucket of water to 'paint' everything in the garden

Give the 2 older children a disposable camera to take pictures when out for walks.

go to a pottery cafe and paint plates etc

treasure hunt in the house and garden for 9 yr old with paper clues

make jewellery out of cooked pasta left to dry, thread onto string then paint.
Rigatoni is best.

Get the 9 year old to help with making plans, including working out things that how much visiting somewhere will cost (they can research using leaflets and the internet). Could also include how you get to places, such as bus / train routes and costs.

Does 9 year old have friends they can visit? Can be handy if 9 year old can visit friends some days, and in return you have friend over to play another day. Means you have 4 children on occasion, though two 9 year olds with luck will keep each other entertained.

Summer hols can be a nightmare, especially if wet. So good luck. One of the reasons why I took a job that is term time only.
