BUNAC for au pairs

Can anyone please advise on how a US girl can use BUNAC to come over and do an Au Pair arrangement because I am confused? (Admittedly it is not difficult to confuse me in current sleep-deprived state!)

I had a chat with BUNAC in the UK, and they said that under the blue card, the girl cannot be self-employed which they defined as meaning she had to be PAYE, had to be at least minimum wage hourly pay and that an arrangement of lodging in return for work was not acceptable.

The girl we are interested in has had a different story stateside: simply call yourself a mothers help not an au pair and do not say you are here to learn the language.

MintyDix, PPP or anyone who has done this cld you clarify?

  • can they officially do an au pair style arrangement under blue card: bed, board, pocket money in return for x/hours childcare without me getting involved in PAYE bureaucracy for the pocket money?

  • are there certain intakes for the BUNAC program that determine when they can come over?

Really appreciate any advice on this! Thanks!
