It all depends. What time will you be collecting her and does your after school club run until that late? Also will you want her to have a meal or snack before she iscollected? What sort of activities will dd do at after school club? Will there be a chance for her to relax after school has finished if she doesn't start school until september you may find she is very tired for first term after school and will maybe only want to get to somewhere she can relax in front of tv or with toys and switch off.

As Outstanding says, very much depends on your personal needs and the flexibility of the childminders in your area compared to the after school club!

My daughter went to after school club 3 nights a week for 18 months and seemed to enjoy it. But in other circumstances would have prefered her to be with a childminder (especially as I am now one and know that she would have been fed better and had more time spent doing specific activities with her, as opposed to the 'playground' type organisation that happened there)!

Not sure I have really helped, sorry!!

thanks thats helpful

after school club will be easiest but i think a childminder would suit her better.

shes been in a private nursery until now, so used to long days but is slightly wary of groups of bigger children

I would say def go with a childminder then. Especially as at after school clubs there are children of all ages, the older of them being rather boisterous, which for a child not used to it, can be very intimidating!

Katz - which night? Might we be able to arrange something between us? At least in early days until DD1 is used to full days 5 days a week? So long as not Tuesday can probably help you out - really wouldn't mind at all and would actually be nice for my DD anyway! And I am free
