CM Club: Closing for Christmas?

Katymac · 13/06/2007 11:35

OK - I am sending out a newsletter stating that I am closed from 6pm on Friday 21st December and will reopen at 8am on Wednesday 2nd January

This actually means I am taking a days leave

How often would you remind parents

Should I put it in Sept & Nov's newletter too or just in Novs

Should Iput a notice on the wall as well?

How much notice do parents take of newsletters?

I personally would do a note/letter JUST about the closure and then feel free to remind if you happen to do other newsletters but it's down to the parents to make a note. I'd worry about putting something like that JUST in a newsletter - I always pop an A4 typed note in the daily dairy

i give out a news letter in January with a holiday sheet attachected
normally dont have to remind parents at all but do have a few ringing to see what date in aug i'm away ( at least they remembered i was away in aug )

anyway
christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not done summer hols yet

Last year I

  • put notice on wall
  • put it in a newsletter
  • gave individual note to each family about 3 months before and again a couple of weeks before.

And still one parent didn't know when I was closed and another kept asking me cos she couldn't remember either.

I now put it on my contracts too. Not that people read those either but their signature proves they read it once!

It's onlt cos I need to take Christmas eve off

I don't fancy opening just for the Monday - I'd rather knock off on the Friday

I am expecting some opposition tho'

Our nursery has the same closure for xmas as you are stating, we were told when we booked the children in, its stated very clearly in our contract that the nursery closes from 3pm xmas eve until the first working day after January 1 (in case it falls on a weekend), and I think we were reminded in the 'winter term' newsletter.
So no chance of not knowing really.
Are you the nursery that earlier this year was thinking of burning nappies to heat the environmentally friendly nursery Katymac, dp and I were in hoots over that one!
Glad to see that it is now up and running, hope you're nice and busy.

Katymac · 17/06/2007 17:34

This is for Childminding the nursery is not open (or even built yet) unfortunatley

I always have Christmas to New Year off - but I am taking an extra day this year.....it's the extra day that I anticipate being a problem
