I am look at a website now wondering whether to get an summer au pair to cover the summer holidays. I would want someone from 8am till 1pm Mon-Fri for 6 weeks. No babysitting in the evenings nor housework except doing breakfast/ lunch for the kids and tidying up after them. I have been an au pair myself 3 times abroad when I was younger so understand what's involved. Just wondered how much it would cost.

I will be paying £55/wk plus free gym/swim/leisure membership plus a free working holiday with us in a Cornish cottage for six weeks of similar work. Oh and maybe some free wellie boots too for walking the dog.

I think you should pay min wage (or thereabouts) less a reasonable amount for bed and board. So 20x£6=£120 less £70 for bed and board=£50 a week?

Thanks. That's better than I'd hoped. Might just be a plan then.

Beware - I had 277 replies to my ad on aupairworld
I shortlisted to 6 and still have the details of some lovely ones if any help.
But I'm sure there are loads more lovely ones registered in the past two weeks.
