Hi My dh has just started continental shift pattern which is great because he is at home a lot more now but also bad because he has to work some weekends. I mind one 9month old mon-thurs and have after schoolies and they come all day in hols. As dh will be home in the week we may want to go out places as he wont be home at weekends (i don't mean shopping or round garden centres etc but fun places that ds and mindees will enjoy) Do any of your dh/dp ever go out for days with you and your mindees? Is it even allowed by OFSTED or is it that when we are minding we can't go out with our other halves? Sorry for sounding a bit dim but am new to cm and used to having frre rein as a nanny!

i do. my husband works shifts and if hes home during the holidays and i have a mindee we all go out(park etc). i dont see why you wouldnt be allowed. your husband would have been police checked etc.

My dh was police checked as part of the deal for me to be a cm. He works from home, so sometimes is able to come out with us. All mindees like him more than me I think! The first thing the under fives do when they arrive, is want to know where he is!

This is fine. My DH has his days off on the week and we have been known to take a trip to IKEA or shopping etc. My parents placed their children with me because they wanted the home style care so i dont feel there is anything wrong with this. Only thing OFSTED would say is DH is not allowed to be left with children although all my parents have signed consent forms stating that they are happy for DH to provide care in my absence ie sickness or emergency!
