Any recommendations for agencies I could ring? Am going to a no sprogs allowed wedding at the end of July and need to find a babysitting/nanny service from 3 pm on Sat until about 1 am. Would be grateful for any suggestions.

Alas I'm not in that area, but I would suggest that you:

  1. Ask local mumsnet users - so good start posting on here, but also try other sections such as Chat, perhaps general Parenting.

  2. Try posting on job sites, such as Gumtree (Bristol)

  3. Try looking at nanny listing sites, such as www.nannyjob.co.uk (which has a babysitter search facility)

  4. If those fail to find someone local, experienced and reliable then resort to agencies - though I do wonder if any of the national ones are able to provide childcare 3pm-1am. So if you can locate a local nanny agency, then that would help (I did a quick look, but alas could not locate one in Wincanton... but agencies further away may cover the area).

  5. Another option may be not to take the sprogs at all - and find childcare for longer at your home location.

Thanks for your advice. She does need to come with us as we can't really afford a full weekend's babysitting and in laws can't take it on. There's just a chance my mom might be over from the US though, in which case she'll come along.

Please keep fingers crossed!
