how long should a minded child stay away from my setting if they have chicken pox? is it 10 days after the spots appear?

my nursery had a week long exclusion so DS was sent home on the Tuesday and went back the following Wednesday.
I know some places have a 10 day exclusion
CP isn't infectious once the spots start to scab over which is around the 5 - 7 day mark IIRC

They stop being vcontagious when the spots are crusty. Took DS1 a week to go from no spots to blisters to crust but it took ds2 a lot longer

Until the last spot that appeared has crusted over. My dd was back at school within a week.

The new guideliners say 1 weeks after the first spots appear. I however have just had 5 of my mindees with chicken pox, and I didn't exclude any of them. All the older (school age)mindees have had it (they came with it too!), and it is most contagious before the spots appear anyway. I am quite happy to sit them in a cool bath, spray them on mass with calamine etc, and they are all quite happy too. They only stay home if they feel poorly.
